20. Two Worlds (Tarzan, 1985)

“Simple lyrics, but Phil transforms my living room into someplace else whenever I listen to this. Filled with hope! Aside from the fact that this is from Tarzan, this song is just fantastic!”

19. Separate Lives (Serious Hits… Live!, 1990)

“This song deals with a breakup that is crushing for the singer – one of those relationships that ends with one person devastated and the other moving on in good order. The line, “You have no right to speak to me so kind” implies that the person who broke up with him still wants to be friends, but the heartache is too much to bear, and he needs her out of his life so he can move on.”

18. Something Happened on the Way to Heaven (Other Sides, 2019)

“The way the trumpets, vocals, and drum come together in this song is simply awesome. The chorus is just so uplifting on this song. Just an amazing song! You can’t be quiet listening to it!”

17. Son of Man (Tarzan, 1985)

“It’s from Tarzan! The fast-paced tempo and the lyrics are undeniably catchy and uplifting. This song never fails to motivate make me happy!”

16. Do You Remember (…But Seriously, 1989)

“In my opinion, one of the best songs sung by Legendary Phil Collins. If give it a higher rating, every time I listen to this song, I’m taken into a trance. Beautiful!”

15. I Missed Again (Face Value, 1981)

“Phil Collins’ follow up to “In The Air Tonight” was the more conventional pop of “I Missed Again”. As you’d expect there are big drums as well as big brass fills from the EWF horns. It’s punchy and catchy, although it’s weakened by the blase saxophone solo.”

14. Strangers Like Me (Tarzan, 1985)

“This is from the ‘Tarzan’ motion picture soundtrack (Disney). I do not have cover art, but found this on-line elsewhere with the same description of the tracks in the same order – so I am betting this is the cover art put out with this single.”

13. Don’t Lose My Number (No Jacket Required, 1985)

“I think I preferred it when Rikki as opposed to Billy lost that number but this otherwise a driving number from Phil Collins about the plight of a homeless runaway. Yes, being the 80’s means the the drums and synths shout out to see who’s loudest but there’s enough drama and conviction in the song to make it a number worth finding.”

12. True Colors (Hits, 1998)

“Phil Collins sings this song incredibly. The song is sung with passion, meaning and his voice is incredible. His version is a lot easier to listen to than Cyndi’s”

11. You Can’t Hurry Love (Hello, I Must Be Going!, 1982)

“One of those songs that just makes you smile every time you listen to it. Easily Phil Collins’ best song. That being said, I prefer the progressive rock material that Collins recorded while being a part of Genesis, Dancing with the Moonlit Knight would be his best song as Genesis’ drummer and Dance on a Volcano would be his best song as Genesis’ drummer/singer.”

10. I Wish It Would Rain Down (…But Seriously, 1989)

“Phil Collins has genuinely changed my life. His singing, his drumming, his composing, his warm nature as both a celebrity and an everyday man, I could go on all day. I’ve been a fan all my life but it wasn’t until I went through some hard times that I realized how truly incredible he is; his music pulled me through. Last year I was lucky enough to see him in concert and it remains one of the best moments of my life.”

9. Take Me Home (No Jacket Required, 1985)

“Coupled with the deep lyrics is the distinct music that makes this track so unique. This song has stood the test of time better than some of his others. Still love this song and the lyrics.”

8. I Don’t Care Anymore (Hello, I Must Be Going!, 1982)

“I absolutely love this song! The drums are AMAZING, Phil’s singing is incredible, and the song is so passionate! Great Song. When life is putting you down just listen to this song. It’ll make you feel like you “Don’t care anymore”

7. Sussudio (No Jacket Required, 1985)

“I can’t get out of my mind this song when I’m going out in the night with my friends. This song is simply incredible One of the catchiest songs of all time”

6. One More Night (No Jacket Required, 1985)

“Simply beautiful vocals especially in the quieter verses and first choruses. I’m not sure if I’ve ever listened to this at least actively in the company of others but I’m sure it would lose its effectiveness a little. I see it as kind of a particular mood piece – best digested at night alone in solitude and silence or maybe a quiet drive, again at night. But anyway, plenty of love for this one.’

5. Easy Lover (No Jacket Required, 1985)

“Maturity is realizing that it’s completely OK to enjoy this song in spite of that snarky teenage voice inside yourself telling you to hate it. Liking this is that final step in banishing that side of yourself into the bin where it belongs. That second verse, man.’

4. You’ll Be in My Heart (Tarzan, 1985)

“My absolute favorite! The fact that it’s in a Disney movie doesn’t make it less than, in fact, it’s great because my kids actually ask me to play it too, as with the rest of the soundtrack that Phil sings! This is one of the most beautiful and powerful songs I’ve ever listened to! It’s really unfortunate that some people think it’s not as good as other songs just because it’s from a Disney movie!”

3. Against All Odds (Face Value, 1981)

“Phil is something that you can’t stop listening to and against all odds is just a perfect song of feelings and emotions! When you get left by a woman, who you knew very well and who knew you very well too, This song is a very good choice for that moment. “

2. Another Day in Paradise (…But Seriously, 1989)

“Its about homelessness… And it’s so beautiful. I love this song. This song makes me think of dancing in circles under the hot sunny weather in Greece- that was paradise.”

1. In the Air Tonight (Face Value, 1981)

“I feel like it is the song of a man who has seen with wife with another man and is preparing to murder him. He doesn’t know what will happen but he can feel it coming in the air tonight. That is my interpretation the beauty of this vague song is it is up to the listener. But what I do know is this is the best-produced song ever.”
