Renegade Songs Ranked

RenegadeĀ is the eleventh studio album by Irish bandĀ Thin Lizzy, released in 1981. Though not his first appearance, this was the first album in which keyboard playerĀ Darren WhartonĀ was credited as a permanent member, becoming the fifth member of the line-up. As such, he made a contribution as a songwriter on the opening track ā€œAngel of Deathā€. However, even though he had officially joined the band, his picture was omitted from the album sleeve. Renegade was the second and final album to feature guitaristĀ Snowy White. By his own admission, White was more suited to playing blues than heavy rock and he quit by mutual agreement the following year. He went on to have a hit single with ā€œBird of Paradiseā€ in 1983. Here are all of Renegadeā€™s songs ranked.

9. Angel of Death

ā€œSong about a devastating nuclear holocaust. Nice lyrics (little inspiration on Stonesā€™ simpathy for the devil), powerful song, 6 minutes of ecstasy.ā€

8. The Pressure Will Blow

ā€œThe pressure will blow. Really makes your pressure blow. Typical Lizzy song, thatā€™s why is so perfect. Change your pint for vodka during this one. A straight forward Lizzy Rock n Roller. Trademark dual harmony guitars.ā€

5. Itā€™s Getting Dangerous

ā€œThatā€™s the best definition ever of ā€œclimaxā€. The song come bringing you to a totaly different level on every second, until it explodes like a damn dynamite. The only drug you need to consume is Thin Lizzy.ā€

4. Mexican Blood

ā€œTequila in the jar. Imagine the best storyteller alive. Forget it. He died. And he was an irish boy, with some brazilian blood. My favorite of the album. Lynottā€™s story telling at its finest. A latin rock feel with the emphasis on rock. Features creative percussive timbales and even some marimba style mariachi playing.ā€

3. No One Told Him

ā€œListen, closely, itā€™s and underrated song. Like all the final 4 of this album. Love song, lizzy style, only phil was capable os doing that one. ā€œBut how can he forget? he hasnā€™t got a friend.ā€

2. Leave This Town

ā€œNothing espetacular, but works fine here between 2 nervous shakedown pieces. Itā€™s the kind of song that you donā€™t love, but once in a year you caught yourself singing it.ā€

1. Renegade

ā€œRythmic guitar chords and drum accents really enhance this song. Solid bass and drums. Creative off beat drum patterns during the middle section of the song. Lead vocalist and bassist Phil Lynott has one of the most identifiable Rock n Roll voices. His voice ranges from tough to sensitive and everything in between. To play the bass guitar and sing at the same time takes real talent and Phil excells at it.ā€
