12. Not Myself
“John Mayer never really ceases to amaze me but there is something about this album that speaks to me. Maybe it’s because it’s really relate-able. He creates a world that is easy to understand with his words and while listening to most of the songs on the album, I felt that I could have written the songs myself had I thought of the idea first.”
11. Love Song for No One
“Also very relatable…about not wanting to be alone anymore. In my case, I understand this a lot because Mayer discusses being in his room writing about hypothetical lovers…which is something I do in my own songs until I find someone.”
10. Back to You
“An upbeat, smooth jazz-rock style song…it has a nice flow, and heart-felt lyrics… One of my favorites…a lot of people’s favorite. Great melody and it’s impossible not to sing along to.”
9. 83
“Very relatable…about wanting to go back to the past when things were easier…how true. John Mayer’s vocals sound really good in this one as well as the guitars. A scaled-down acoustic number with cool jazz chords.”

8. St. Patrick’s Day
“The tune is very nice and the guitar playing also shows itself a lot in this. A combination of many sounds and instruments. Great blend. A nice subdued jazz harmonies with a mellow, reflective, vulnerable vocal style..”
7. City Love
A slower, groove-like shuffle- again really cool chord progression on the chorus & bridge; great use of effects. Not a big fan of this one. Maybe my least favorite track. But redeemed by the lyric, “she keeps a toothbrush at my place / as if I had the extra space.”
6. 3X5
“This one pleasantly surprised me- it’s a sort of Zydeco-style shuffle with an accordian, and cool progression, almost reminded me of some of Paul Simon’s solo stuff, but fresher and with John’s unique style and stream of consciousness lyrical style.”
5. My Stupid Mouth
“My Stupid Mouth”- great musically, and lyrics any well-intentioned shy-guy trying to connect to a girl he really cares about can relate to…”I’m never speaking up again…call me Captain Backfire…”- I can definitely relate- score another one for boy wonder!”

4. Your Body Is a Wonderland
“Starts out with a really catchy reggae-like riff with cool guitar harmony- again tremendously creative lyrics- “one pair of candy lips & your bubble gum tongue…” I had to laugh at that- in a good way- it reminded me of the goofy kind of stuff teenage guys say to try and woo their girl…lol- it brought back some good memories…really cool, jazz-like guitar riff on the bridge, also…”
3. No Such Thing
“I really, really like this song and it was one of the initial reasons I bought the album. It really shows that bridge between high school and the real world, when you realize there is no such thing as the real world”
2. Neon
“Neon”- one of my personal favs on the CD- great opening riff, cool moving funky bass line- awesome chord progressions- John is miles ahead of most guitarists and songwriters twice his age!”
1. Why Georgia
“A creative fingerstyle guitar riff intro with a great bridge, and again deeply moving lyrics about transitions, pursuing the dream, love lost…, great chorus & bridge also. This is my most favorite, it’s about heading out on your own and questioning the choices you make, “am I living it right?”
