Roxette Albums Ranked
Roxette was a Swedish pop rock duo, consisting of Marie Fredriksson (vocals and keyboards) and Per Gesslen (vocals and guitar). Formed in 1986, the duo became an international act in the late 1980s, when they released their breakthrough second album Look Sharp! Their third album Joyride, released in 1991, became just as successful as its predecessor. Roxette went on to achieve nineteen UK Top 40 hits, and several US Hot 100 hits, including four US number-ones with “The Look”, “Listen to Your Heart”, “It Must Have Been Love”, featured on the soundtrack of Pretty Woman, and “Joyride”. Their other hits include “Dressed for Success”, “Dangerous”, and “Fading Like a Flower”. Before coming together to form the duo, Fredriksson and Gessle were already established artists in Sweden, she having released a number of solo albums and he being the lead singer and songwriter of Gyllene Tider, a band that had three No. 1 albums. On the advice of the managing director of their record label, the two came together to record “Neverending Love”, which became a hit single in Sweden. Here are all of Roxette albums ranked.

10. Love Peas: The Ballad Hits
“The Ballad Hits” is Roxette’s first two compilations alongside “The Pop Hits.” It contains thirteen of the band’s biggest ballads and two songs specially prepared for this compilation “A Thing About You” and “Breathe”, only the first being promoted on the radio as a single, but unfortunately did not succeed.”
9. Travelling
“And again the quarrel in my head is either a studio album or rather another compilation. The compilation can not be because most of the songs were previously unpublished studio album too much because this is not a regular material. “Traveling”, like the one published twenty years earlier, “Tourism” is a collection of songs recorded somewhere around the hotel corners and other places during the tour. Again as before just a curiosity.”
8. Baladas En Español
“As Roxette’s popularity has grown over the years not only in Europe and North America, but also in Asia and South America, EMI’s management has decided to launch to South American ballad compilation in Spanish. The biggest success of the album was in Spain (not in South America) where achieved double platinum. As for the language, it has been very successful in connecting it with music and it sounds as good as in the original English.”
7. Charm School
“Exactly after ten years break Roxette is back with new material. Why so long. There were several factors in personal and career plans of members and, unfortunately, Marie Fredriksson’s brain tumor was detected. Despite all the adversity, the duo returned to studio and recorded their eighth studio album. This time we get a little bit of material similar to the first Roxette albums, where most of the material is a pop anthem style, but despite that failed to promote bigger hits. A successful return, but not to the kings of pop.”
6. Have A Nice Day
“After five years Roxette is back with a new studio material, unfortunately it’s not a good return. Based on the fashion of the time, the duo dazzled some of their music with electronic sounds, despite still being very guitar, however, the music we know lost somewhere their dynamics and ingenuity, which makes album “Have a Nice Day” leaves much to be desired compared to previous achievements. The only pearl on this release is “I Wish I Could Fly”.
5. Pearls Of Passion
“The first album of the Swedish duo Roxette. The album “Pearls in Passion” presents a link to the melodious pop. Interestingly, since the first album, the group has turned attention by romantic ballads such as “So Far Away,” “Surrender,” or “It Must Be Love.” Roxette’s debut did not bring international success, but they positioned the second place charts in Sweden.”

4. Tourism
“If you’re looking for Roxette’s best album, then this is it. Songs that really standout for me are: “How Do You Do”, “Fingertips”, “The Heart-Shaped Sea”, “The Rain”, “Never Is A Long Time”, “Silver Blue” and “Queen of Rain”. There are few live tracks and “Things Will Never Be The Same” is the best of them all. Country version of “It Must Have Been Love” is nice and brings something new to this old favorite.”
3. Crash! Boom! Bang!
“Music on “Crash! Boom! Bang!” is quite different and many fans of Roxette’s sweet pop songs can be surprised of how rocking this album is at times. Uptempo numbers, like “I Love The Sound Of Crushing Guitars” and “Lies” are more in rock vein, then pop and that’s good, because it brings fresh air into their music. Ballads are even more effective, especially “Go To Sleep”, “Love Is All” and “The First Girl On The Moon”. Overall, I must admit, that “Crash! Boom! Bang” is a wonderful collection of memorable songs! “
2. Look Sharp!
“The second album of Roxette appeared two years after debut and was a hit. It’s from “Look Sharp!” serious duo’s career began, in Sweden they were previously known, now their second album did not go down for seven weeks from the first position of the sales chart, they already were knew by a large part of Europe, and thanks to a US student who brought the album to the USA and distributed through America’s radio network America opened her arms to Roxette. As for me, “Look”, “Dangerous” and above all, the ballad “Listen to Your Heart” has long been a part of the band’s classics.”
1. Joyride
“The third album of Roxette broke all previous. As it is known, not everywhere pressure is a success, but in this case, it turned out that not only band got out of the situation, but they recorded the best album so far. “Joyride” is a classic of pop rock albums, where the five singles turned out to be five hits. “Joyride”, “The Big L.” and another “Spending My Time” ballad are the next gems in Roxette’s career. Album equal and good.”
