Australian pop duo Savage Garden have taken the world by storm without the record company hype and career-establishing game plan that is often the background for pop-oriented acts. Daniel Jones comes from a long line of musicians. When he was ten, he was already playing the keyboard and drums in bars and hotels. Darren Hayes’ show business experience extended no further than his involvement in many school plays. When Jones and the band he’d started with his brothers advertised for a singer, the inexperienced but enthusiastic Hayes was the only hopeful to answer. He wasn’t what was needed for a covers band playing the Gold Coast resort area of Queensland, but Hayes inspired a different flame in Jones and the pair broke away to start writing original songs. 2. Affirmation 

“Affirmation is absolutely, spontaneously fantastic. It has the perfect blend of love songs and fun songs. “Affirmation,” the title track, is a wonderful self-affirming song. It’s also kind of funny, too. It basically states, this is what I believe and you can’t really change that. Then, there’s “I Knew I Loved You” which is such a touching love song. I swear, that song has got to be about total soulmates who know before they meet that they’re destined to be together. “Crash and Burn” shows that even if you are having a hard time, there is always someone who cares. It kind of makes me think of how you can just crash on your friend’s bed and spill out all of your problems and he or she will listen and help you out.”

“This album is absolutely beautiful, and being a Savage Garden fan, their first is one of the best. Their second album is also just as good! Really would recommend this album. It mixes a slow urban R&B with Pop-ballads. “Truly Madly Deeply” is the single off this album that made it. “To The Moon & Back” is another one. The album as a whole is a must have for any Pop/R&B fan. The songs really do have a meaning to it.”
