10. Shakira (2014)

“This is a great album. It’s fun, upbeat, and melodic. Almost every track is great. One of the best songs on the album is “Chasing Shadows”, which I later realized was on my deluxe version of this album. I didn’t know that it’s not part of the regular album, which is hard to believe as it’s one of the best tracks on the album.”

9. El Dorado (2017)

“This is an amazing and cohesive album by our Colombian songstress. She made sure to include her recents hits such as “La Bicicleta”, “Chantaje” and “Me Enamore” and collaborations such as “Deja Vu” and “Comme Moi” while also giving us some outstanding gems. In my opinion “When a Woman”, “Amarillo”, “Perro Fiel” and “Nada” are the new stand outs of this project.”

8. She Wolf (2009)

“The She Wolf Shakira may sound a bit different from her previous works but that defines a good artist, one who can shift and change and still be at his or her best. Besides, the She Wolf Shakira is not totally different, just a little experimental, and still the very great artist–Shakira!”

7. Oral Fixation Vol. 2 (2005)

“The lyrics are poetic and lucid as she writes about a cheating lover in her rawest rock tune “Don’t Bother” and chants questions to God in a Cher like vibrato on “How Do You Do”. If those lyrics do not convince you of Shakira’s poetic imagery and talent as a song writer, then her criticism of the government and media on her Anti-war ballad “Timor” will.”

6. Grandes Éxitos (2002)

“The Shakira album Grandes Exitos is her greatest hits from when she first came out up until whenever wherever and objection tango. It also has live tracks from the MTV unplugged sessions. I love all the tracks and couldn’t pick one out. If you like all her old songs you will love this.”

5. Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 (2005)

” Fijacion Oral shows a more mature Shakira, who has the confidence to incorporate jazz, rock, latin-rap, salsa rhythms and a bit of a classic 80s tone into an upbeat and rhythmical album. Whether you want to dance, dream, relax, or simply be enchanted this album is a must have.”

4. Sale El Sol (2010)

“With this album, though, she is back to prove once again why she is the best. Her new songs show much of her latin yet rock-infused creations. You can hear a little bit of Pies Descalzos and Donde Estan Los Ladrones in some of these songs. There is an evident Dominican merengue influence as well.”

3. Laundry Service (2001)

“There are very few albums where I can say I like all the songs on it. Most of the time, there are–if you are lucky–three songs you like on an album. The rest are either not great or not your thing. This particular album is the one album where I actually do like all the songs. I really love doing house cleaning while I listen to it. What is nice is that the album has some of Shakira’s more popular songs, like Obsession Tango and Wherever, Whenever in both Spanish and English.”

2. Pies Descalzos (1995)

“”Pies Descalzos” presents her range as both a rockera and a balladeer. The album kicks off on a high note, with the wistful and infectious “Estoy Aqui.” This is probably one of her most popular early hits. It has a combination of heart wrenching lyrics (longing for the lover who isn’t coming back) and a totally wonderful, high energy rhythm section. I believe this song was also featured on Shakira’s “MTV Unplugged” album. “Antologia,” the next track, is beautiful, stirring and very sensual. As far as ballads go, it reaches new levels with its smooth, slow guitar strums and Shakira’s soaring voice.”

1. Dónde Están Los Ladrones? (1998)

“The album opens on the danceable mariachi influenced “Ciega, sordomuda” – already a winner. Then come the rock oriented energetic “Si te vas” en the great guitar ballad “Moscas en la casa” (one of my favourites). “No Creo” is mixing rock guitars and a dance rhythmic section (great chorus). You can rest next with another ballad “Inevitable” and its grant chorus and another favourite of mine, “Octavio dia” (great lyrics).”
