Shinee (/ˈʃaɪniː/SHY-nee; Korean: 샤이니, romanized: Syaini; Japanese: シャイニー, romanized: Shainī; stylized as SHINee) is a South Korean boy band formed by SM Entertainment in 2008. The group’s musical impact in their native country has earned them numerous accolades and the title “Princes of K-pop”. The group is composed of four members: Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin. Originally a five-piece group, vocalist Jonghyun died in December 2017. Shinee is considered to be one of the best live vocal groups in K-pop and is known for their highly synchronized and complex dance routines, having been awarded the Best Dance Performance Award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards three times in a row for their dance performances to “Sherlock (Clue + Note)”, “Dream Girl” and “View”. Shinee’s signature musical style is contemporary R&B, but the group is known for their experimental sound, incorporating various genres including funk rock, hip hop, and EDM. 10. Odd

Pop Reviews Now: Understanding SHINee's "View"

“The chillest rnb album where every song is good… You can definitely hear the seeds of The Story of Light in here too! Key is the best hype man!”

9. LUCIFER

SHINee - LUCIFER Artwork (5 of 13) | Last.fm

“Pretty good (albeit slightly inconsistent) SHINee album, especially for being so early in their career. But the main problem with this record is the autotune, it absolutely KILLS certain songs (See: Wowowow) I can’t for the life of me figure out why a bunch of young, already talented singers would feel the need to resort to such cheap studio tactics, especially since it ends up making the songs sound WORSE. Thankfully they would later abandon this in favor of their signature organic and more experimental sound. Still, despite it’s inconsistency it’s still an effort worth listening to, the band would only keep improving later on.”

8. I’m Your Boy

SHINee - I'm Your Boy | Releases | Discogs

“I love this album so much! It has 12 tracks and it comes with a booklet, photo card (I got my bias, Minho!) and dvd. The booklet contains pictures of all the members in shinee and they are beautiful pictures! The dvd includes music videos from their Japanese releases and a special showcase movie. My album also came way before the delivery date and it came in perfect condition. I’m very please with my album. I recommend this to any shinee fan!”

7. Five

Five (Shinee album) - Wikipedia

“A nice voice that is stretchy and gentle. Once again, I was just shocked by the quality of all the SHINee, and I listened to CDs and watched Blu-ray again and again. I remembered five people who did not distinguish between the name and face, each with the distinction of personality, I was shocked by the incident of Onyu, crying on the death of Jonghyun. It ‘s hard, but it is healed by SHINee songs every day while praying the shining forefront of everyone to the front.”

6. Dream Girl – The Misconceptions Of You

Chapter 1. 'Dream Girl - The Misconceptions of You' - The 3rd Album - Album by SHINee | Spotify

“SHINee always seems to have more filler than most K-Pop bands, but they make up for it in some of the best songs on the scene (Lucifer, Juliette, etc.) This album is pretty much a continued extension of their sound: some awesome pop singles, some ballads, some stuff that’s by no means bad, but not stand out either. A good K-Pop album, and I’m intrigued what they plan to do with the next chapter of this album.”

5. Don’t Call Me

Don't Call Me (album) - Wikipedia

“Body Rhythm sounds kinda reggae-inspired and the beat is soooo catchy. Definitely the best song on the album in my opinion. Don’t Call Me is a very good choice for a title song, I think SHINee really needed a song like this to give them the spark back, as it is their most recent comeback in a pretty long period of time.”

4. D×D×D

SHINee - DxDxD Artwork (1 of 2) | Last.fm

“I think SHINee has ruined me because I can’t seem to find any other K-pop groups that are half as good. SHINee has that special something that no one else has. Honestly I just don’t really get some of the other super popular groups. They’re alright, just not my favorite. But SHINee, SHINee is always perfect and they always give me that excited and giddy feeling.”

3. Boys Meet U

Boys Meet U - Album by SHINee | Spotify

“Finally, a SHINee album where the killer/filler ratio leans heavily towards killer (even the filler has killer moments). The first six songs easily rate as the most sustained artistic achievement of the group: eclectic, energized, passionately and beautifully performed. The first two tracks are especially stunning: “Password” a gorgeous mix of prog with pure pop vocals, with lyrics about yearning to unlock the key to healing, and the anthemic “Breaking News” — electrifying intensity combined with a joyful message of hope for the future.”

2. Atlantis

SHINEE - Atlantis Album version Adventure

“It is an aesthetically pleasing album to look at time to time. Loved the extra photocards of each member, I didn’t get the ocean version of the pop out cards instead I received the other album version. But that is okay its the manufactures mistake. But I dont really mind. Liked the extra mirror. The album does not have a bind on the edge so the pages can be ripped out, but that was how it was made. Just be careful when opening and folding the pages.”

1. 1 Of 1

1 of 1 (album) - Wikipedia

“This is an absolutely flawless album. Yes, a cohesive ALBUM–rare for kpop. Personally, I no longer listen to or follow any kpop besides SHINee and LOONA (the best girl group). So, what’s so good about 1 of 1, you ask? Well, every song is great and it flows perfectly; it goes by in the blink of an eye even though no two songs sound the same nor do any feel unnecessary. It’s catchy and mood-boosting, but not vapid, and not at all a cheap take on any of the genres.”
