Slightly Stoopid Albums Ranked
Slightly Stoopid is an American band based in the Ocean Beach neighborhood of San Diego, California, who describe their music as “a fusion of folk, rock, reggae and blues with hip-hop, funk, metal and punk.” As a band, they have released thirteen albums (four live), with their ninth studio album entitled Everyday Life, Everyday People on July 13, 2018. The band was originally signed by Bradley Nowell from the band Sublime to his label Skunk Records while still in high school. In 1994, Slightly Stoopid was formed in Ocean Beach, California by Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, both childhood friends, as well as high school friend and drummer Adam Bausch. Sublime front man Bradley Nowell was staying with Doughty’s nurse mother and doctor boyfriend in their drug rehabilitation program when he stumbled across the band. After waking up one morning, he overheard the band practicing in the garage and was impressed, asking them to perform in Long Beach, California at the Foot Hill Tavern. Nowell shortly after signed them to his label Skunk Records while the members were still attending high school. In 1996 the band released their first studio album, the punk-tinged Slightly $toopid (featuring a guest appearance by Nowell on the song “Prophet” – later covered by Sublime and released on their box set, Everything Under the Sun) and 1998’s surf-inspired The Longest Barrel Ride. Here are all of Slightly Stoopid albums ranked.

6. Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid
“This band has really grown on me, and this album is another fun offering of reggae flavored tunes. Many of the songs demonstrate the astounding musical talents of the members, not through flashy boring solos, but with tasty licks and hooks.”
5. Meanwhile… Back At The Lab
“Slighty Stoopid are back once again to deliver some jams to fuel your summer parties, road trips or BBQs. Every Stoopidhead will find something on this track that’ll make them groove. Standout tracks for me would be “Life Rolls On”, “Time Won’t Wait”, “Rolling Stone” and “Dabbington”.A great album! As Stoopid style, they offer a good mix of punk, reggae and blues. It’s hard to limit it to just one genre. Pick this joint up!”
4. Chronchitis
“This CD shows a quieter, more calm side of the group, but capes by the rhythms that go in the ear, after playing the 2nd time you want to listen to it every day to turn off and sink into the groove.”

3. Live & Direct: Acoustic Roots
“Totally chill, laid-back, and very STYLEEE…if you like yourself a healthy dose of Sublime, Pepper, or Jack Johnson than this album is right up your alley….which is probably their most laid-back and dubious effort. Highly recommended for acoustic fans – and don’t let the fake Jamaican accents fool you.”
2. Closer To The Sun
“Very cool album. They tapped into reggae for a lot of these songs, making for a chilled out listening experience. Though about a quarter of the songs weren’t special, some tracks like Older and Somebody are great. If you like SS you want to check this out.”
1. Everything You Need
“I’m a pretty adept ska/reggae fan and this is one of my favorite releases of all time. Songs like World Goes Round and Collie Man make me want to groove out real hard. If your into chilled out music, this is one of the best. Also I think it’s the best release by Slightly Stoopid to date.”
