TARUKI explore self-rejection and identity collapse on new single ‘Fading Light’
California alternative rock project TARUKI return with emotionally heavy new single ‘Fading Light’, a track centred on identity, exhaustion and the impossible pursuit of an idealised version of yourself.
Led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Joe Jones, TARUKI blend atmospheric heaviness with deeply introspective songwriting, using ‘Fading Light’ to examine the psychological strain of constantly chasing personal transformation without ever feeling fulfilled by it.
Rather than framing the “fading light” as lost hope, the song presents it as a moving target that can never fully be reached. That tension runs throughout the track’s sound, balancing melodic vulnerability with explosive alternative rock dynamics.
The single also brings together an impressive creative lineup, featuring guest vocals from Thomas Freckleton, formerly of Silent Planet, and drums from Connor Denis of Beartooth. Production comes from Greg M. Johnson, whose credits include Powerman 5000 and ONE OK ROCK, while mastering was handled by Gentry Studer, known for work with Deftones and Metallica.
