The Tedeschi Trucks Band is an American blues and blues-rock group based in Jacksonville, Florida. Formed in 2010, the band is led by married couple Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. Their debut album, Revelator (2011), won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Blues Album. The band has released six studio and three live albums. On April 20, 2022, Tedeschi Trucks Band announced I Am the Moon, four new studio albums featuring 24 original songs. Each of the four I Am the Moon albums — I. Crescent, II. Ascension, III. The Fall, and IV. Farewell — will be released in successive months beginning with I. Crescent was released on June 3 and II. Ascension released on July 1. 8. Live From The Fox Oakland
“T-TB is a far better studio band than most jam bands, with able vocals and decent songwriting, and they sound full and rich. But that said, the songwriting is only decent, and lead singer Susan Tedeschi sometimes lacks nuance in her powerhouse delivery. In this full-glory live representation, however, they’re free to draw on all kinds of inspired covers – Cohen, the Beatles, Derek & the Dominos, etc – to add songwriting punch and to let loose on monster extended workouts that show what a fantastic large collective they’ve become and simultaneously lighten Tedeschi’s load.”
7. I Am The Moon: II. Ascension
The shorter tunes represent southern soul centered around Susan’s great voice and supported by really wonderful horn arrangements with occasional embellishments from Derek’s slide guitar. The two longest tunes, one the center piece and the other the closer, have a more jam like character and contain the eastern exotic elements.”

“The Persian poem of Layla and Majnun is the same that inspired the Clapton song (and the band has played the Layla album in concert already). However, their project is much bigger: a 4 LP, 24 song interpretation of the whole story of which this release is the first chapter. In a concept like this, the whole may be bigger than its parts, nevertheless the choice to release part 1 individually also requires that it works on its own.”
5. Signs
“The Tedeschi Trucks Band’s fourth studio album is a rich, beautifully constructed album that features the band’s trademark real good riffs, complex arrangements and shredding guitar work. Signs differs from their other releases in tone. This is at times a more somber and serious record. However, there is much power in these quiet moments. “Strengthen What Remains” is a beautiful song penned by Mike Mattison about enjoying and appreciating life even in hard times.”
4. Everybody’s Talkin’
“I’m in two minds about this set. It’s obviously nowhere near as refined as last year’s Revelator, and man, does some of the playing get long-winded (and I speak as a man with hundreds of Grateful Dead tapes). On the other hand, I find it a lot more enjoyable, with its mix of blues/jams/folk/soul nods. Great album for car trips. And man, can Susan Tedeschi sing (and play guitar, too, for that matter).”
3. Made Up Mind
“Quite smooth singer/songwriter influenced poppy blues rock with quite a soft sound for most of the time. Very pleasant melodies, which for many parts actually feel rather positively loaded, and also very sing along friendly moments. For a bluesy album this one is rather catchy, and probably manages to flirt rather well with a mainstream audience as well. Remains a bit too standard and similar to itself through the album, but otherwise I have nothing to complain.”

“Great blues album performed by very talented musicians. That being said, it feels like everyone is holding back, being humble. It’s like a pressure cooker, and the top just wants to blow off and unleash steamy blues awesomness and rawk out jam like there is no tomorrow. It is still a very fine album and Mrs. Tedeschi has an amazing voice.”
