The Overjoyed drop new single ‘Rotten Love’
Athens punk rockers The Overjoyed are back with a deeply personal new single ‘Rotten Love’. Arriving just days before the band takes the stage with Green Day at Ejekt Festival 2025 (July 6th), the track marks the second glimpse into their upcoming album (details still under wraps).
Recorded at their own Buduzi Studios in Athens, and self-produced before being mixed by Marios Adamopoulos and mastered by Christian Wright at Abbey Road Studios, ‘Rotten Love’ delivers a gritty-yet-polished punch. Frontman Leo Overjoyed calls it his most vulnerable writing to date, unpacking the fallout of a passionate but toxic relationship: “It’s cathartic… putting it out in the world makes me feel vulnerable, but also somehow relieved.”
Musically, the track blends melancholic punk melodies with ironic edge, featuring a riff inspired by The Clash’s ‘Police on My Back’. The new single signals The Overjoyed’s evolution toward a moodier, power-pop-influenced sound, further refining the shift hinted at on their 2023 EP Pressurepop.
