The Shins’ James Mercer joins Minnegasco for two tracks on debut album ‘The Studio Audience’

New Mexico indie-pop outfit Minnegasco have unveiled their debut album, The Studio Audience, featuring a special collaboration with The Shins frontman James Mercer.

The acclaimed singer takes lead vocals on two tracks, ‘Livin’ in France’ and ‘Tar Mazzan’, recorded together in Portland. The collaboration brings together musicians whose creative connections stretch back decades.

Founded by songwriter Jon Forrest Little and creative partner Dru Arstark, Minnegasco draw on a rich history of American underground rock, combining melodic indie-pop, folk-rock influences and socially conscious songwriting.

The twelve-track album also features contributions from guitarist Brett ‘Smokestack’ Davis, the late original Shins bassist Neal Langford and late vocalist Bernadette Seacrest.

Based in Aztec, New Mexico, Minnegasco’s debut introduces a distinctive collaboration between established alternative-rock musicians and independent songwriting talent.
