The Wheel Workers reignite a long-lost idea on new single ‘Spreading the Fire’
Texas alternative collective The Wheel Workers have returned with ‘Spreading the Fire’, the first track to emerge from their forthcoming album One More Thing To Say.
The song has an unusually long history within the band’s orbit. Originally sketched out during the group’s formative years in Austin, the idea remained unfinished for almost twenty years before being revisited and transformed into its final form for the new record.
Built around driving percussion, distorted guitar lines and flashes of psychedelic colour, the single explores what happens to youthful ambition as life grows more complicated. But rather than mourning the past, it argues for holding onto creativity, curiosity and the relationships that give life meaning long after adulthood begins to demand otherwise.
