THIEF descends into darkness on ‘Moon and Kill’
LA dark electronic project THIEF has announced its fifth album Sermons from the Pit, arriving November 27 via Prophecy Productions, alongside brooding lead single ‘Moon and Kill’.
Led by multi-instrumentalist and former BOTANIST member Dylan Neal, the track captures the dramatic extremes that shape the forthcoming record, moving between frantic aggression, despair and moments of eerie calm. Its closing passage is particularly striking, dissolving into drifting vocals, stretched organ and choral samples after the intensity that precedes it.
Lyrically, ‘Moon and Kill’ considers what happens when love and trust collapse, placing anger and disbelief against the possibility of forgiveness.
With this new offering, THIEF offers a suitably unsettling first descent into what promises to be the project’s darkest record yet.
