Thief unveils ‘Violent Bloom’ ahead of new album ‘Sermons from the Pit’

LA-based dark electronic project Thief introduces ‘Violent Bloom’, a new single from its forthcoming fifth studio album ‘Sermons from the Pit’, arriving November 27 via Prophecy Productions.

Led by multi-instrumentalist Dylan Neal, formerly of experimental black metal outfit BOTANIST, Thief has developed a distinctive musical identity that combines the brooding atmosphere of trip-hop with industrial aggression, experimental electronics and elements of metal.

‘Violent Bloom’ introduces listeners to the unsettling creative world surrounding ‘Sermons from the Pit’, an album exploring fractured relationships, spiritual disillusionment and existential uncertainty.

His self-described “Dungeon Pop” sound incorporates manipulated sacred chants, haunting choral arrangements and heavily distorted electronic textures, drawing inspiration from artists including Portishead and Ulver.
