Tiger Bear Wolf resurrect long-lost album with new single ‘Hands Out Honey’
North Carolina outfit Tiger Bear Wolf return with ‘Hands Out Honey’, the latest glimpse into a self-titled album nearly two decades in the making. Set for release on July 17th via Ernest Jenning Record Co., the record arrives as both a continuation and resurrection of a project once believed permanently lost.
Originally formed in Greensboro in 2002, the band built a reputation through relentless touring and a fierce blend of Southern rock, hardcore and psychedelic post-punk. Work on their third album first began in 2009, with basic tracks recorded between a communal performance space and an attic bedroom before the sessions disappeared into corrupted hard drives and abandoned files.
Against all odds, the recordings were recovered years later, allowing the band to slowly rebuild the album across multiple cities and studios with additional work completed at Calogera Audio and producer Joel Hatstat’s Athens-based studio.
‘Hands Out Honey’ captures that strange collision of past and present. There is a rawness rooted in the band’s original era, but also a sense of perspective shaped by the years spent piecing the record back together. Gritty riffs, heavy atmosphere and melodic weight sit alongside the feeling of a band reconnecting with unfinished history.
