Warrant Albums Ranked

Warrant is an American glam metal band formed in 1984 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, that experienced success from 1988 to 1996 with five albums reaching international sales of over 10 million. The band first came into the national spotlight with their 2× platinum debut album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich, and one of its singles, “Heaven,” reached No. 1 in Rolling Stone and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band continued its success in the early 1990s with the double-platinum album Cherry Pie which provided the hit album titled song and music video.
Following the critically acclaimed gold album Dog Eat Dog the band started to experience frequent changes to the line-up and despite the drop in popularity with the arrival of grunge, they released Ultraphobic in 1995 and a successful best of album in 1996. The band also changed their musical direction with the release of the grunge influenced Belly to Belly in 1996 but returned to their roots very quickly by the end of the decade. The band experienced highs and lows in the 2000s with successful tours, a new covers album Under the Influence, lead singer Jani Lane leaving, a brand new Born Again album with new singer Jaime St. James, and a brief reunion of the original line up. Into the new decade, former lead singer and main songwriter Jani Lane died. After over 30 years, the band is still recording music and performing, now with ex-Lynch Mob lead vocalist Robert Mason.

9. Born Again (2006)

“Warrant for the most part is known for jani lane, well now they have 3 who have fronted warrant. Second one who is on this record is jamie st. James (former black n blue vocalist) and right now robert mason (former lynch mob vocalist) is there permanent vocalist after jani lane’s death. Well this record has some great hooks to eat. Jamie gives some killer vocals on here, yeah maybe not lane’s but that not necessarily a bad thing. Bourbon county line when it kicks in has a bada$$ riff. The record has a lot dynamite to it, this record is very underrated and shows the talent that was behind warrant when lane was in the band.”

8. Under the Influence (2001)

“Wow, a cover album called “under the influence”! How appropriate for warrant, as they are under the influence of some of their long time favorite artists while recording these cover songs. They are all amazing, I think especially “Hair Of The Dog”, with it’s recent new popularity again, because of car commercials. Jani Lane makes us love him all over again while belting out these timeless heavy metal songs in a perfect cover album.”

7. Belly to Belly (1996(

“This album is great! One of my most played Warrant cd’s. i love everything they did and got into them via cherry pie and am glad they constantly evolved with each album. Unfortunately a lot of Jani Lane’s true life unhappiness manifests itself in these recordings and if you look into the lyrics you could see a burn out coming a mile off.
Anyhow if you are thinking of buying this then be prepared to be patient with it as its a deep album. Theres no cherry pie here but their early stuff is great too. god bless Jani Lane….”

6. Rockaholic (2011)

5.

“The songs are well balanced (mixture of mid-tempo tracks & ballads), good compositions & well produced. Stand-outs/gems/solid tracks include “Innocence Gone” (beautiful very commanding vocals & melodic guitars), “Home” (a wonderful ballad, inspirational lyrics, very melodical sound & vocals), “Life’s A Song” (mid-tempo track with a build-up to a beautiful cresendo, great melody & vocals), “Found Forever” (a wonderful ballad with great melody & chorus) & “Tears In The City” (another ballad with incredible melody, harmonies & vocals). CD filler/okay track for me is “Candy Man”. Great tracks include “Sex Ain’t Love” (mid-tempo track, great melody & vocals), “Snake”, “Dusty’s Revenge” (melodical guitars), “What Love Can Do”, “Show Must Go On”, “Cocaine Freight Train, “Sunshine” & “The Last Straw”. The band Warrant in this CD ‘Rockaholic’ covers the usual hard rock subjects of love/sex, drugs & having great fun. The band is certainly still going strong, their fans should be delighted with this well crafted CD release, a highly recommended CD listening.”

5. Louder Harder Faster (2017)

“Warrant ROCKS BIG TIME with this new release! I loved the last CD ‘ Rockaholic’ from 2011 and couldn’t wait for something new. The wait was well worth it. Very good song writing and just great Hard Rock that makes you feel good. I am a long time Warrant fan and I gotta say Robert Mason fits the band perfectly. He is so melodic and powerful at the same time with his vocals and delivery. The band sounds real tight and like they are hungry to prove to the world again how great they are. This is indeed proof. Don’t hesitate on this one because it is a great choice when you want to Rock!”

4. Ultraphobic (1995)

“That record, though great, seems to have haunted his later work with earlier fans dissing his more serious subject matter and later prospective audiences hooked into the overrated grunge scene. This album is full of very moving, but heavy songs which can’t be described as immediately accessible. Though not relevant it’s worth noting that he was undergoing a very messy relationship break up at the time and this adds to the harder bitter edge of the work. Worth every penny if you enjoy thought-provoking heavy rock always with an eye on the melody.”

3. Cherry Pie (1990)

“For me, this is perhaps one of the best albums back from the hair metal era. Lots of memories arise each time I play it… A good sound legacy from a specific musical history moment recorded here, no matter how cheesy it may result, now and then.”

2. Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich (1989)

“This is a classic album by Warrant and, if you’re a fan of the Heavy Metal genre, especially 80’s metal, this album is a must have for you in your collection. For only $4.99, you can’t go wrong as this album is packed with hit after hit including: “Down Boys”, “Heaven”, and “Sometimes She Cries”. It also includes a couple of demos that were previously unreleased, which are pretty good as well. You can’t really go wrong with this album if you appreciate great music, which artists now days seem to have trouble making.”

1.Dog Eat Dog (1992)

“This is my favorite Warrant record Jani Lane was such a talented singer and songwriter .he was better than a lot of the terrible hair band era singers during the 1980’s.he was a mix of Elton John and The Beatles he should have been around a long time but he was only around for a few hit albums and died too young..this album is a classic but was not a big hit. songs like Let It Rain Bitter Pill and Quicksand show what soul Jani had as a singer and the band sounds real heavy on Machine Gun Hole In My Wall the hardest they ever rocked ..recommended for any heavy metal fan not as pop-rock as Cherry Pie or DRFSR .if you have not heard any songs from this album get a copy!”
