WayV (Chinese: 威神V; pinyin: WēiShén V; an initialism for We are your Vision) is a Chinese boy band managed by SM Entertainment’s Chinese sub-label, Label V, and the fourth sub-unit and China-based unit of the South Korean boy band NCT. The group is composed of seven members: Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang. They debuted on January 17, 2019, with the digital extended play (EP) The Vision. The group has earned several accolades from both national and international award ceremonies, including the Favorite Asian Artist at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards and the Best Dance Performance (Chinese) at the Asian Pop Music Awards for their 2021 single “Kick Back”. 8. Kick Back (Kick Back, 2021)

“The chanting chorus sounding a bit too cluttered, and I wished that the track was more vocally driven. It’s not a terrible song. I did grow on me a bit with a few listens, but there’s always this disconnect as soon as the chorus comes on.”

7. Bad Alive (Awaken the World, 2020)

“For me this was one of the highlights of the album. Mostly because I really like the samples/synths but I’ll forever go back to the chinese version so that I won’t need to listen to these lyrics. Idk why English lyrics always turn out like this, the lyrics aren’t nearly as bad on the chinese version (at least from the translations I’ve seen. maybe it is to native chinese speakers)”

6. Electric Hearts (Awaken the World, 2020)

“Even with only three comebacks I truly beleive that WayV is the Best NCT unit. This comeback truly solidified that and gave me what I think is the best NCT album yet! Though Neo Zone and Empathy are very close seconds. Electric Hearts is easily a standout on the album, and I love how interesting the instrumental is, its just to Crunchy!”

5. Turn Back Time (Awaken the World, 2020)

“Really liked the vocals on this one! And the “stop, rewind, turn back time” wasn’t overused as I feared it would by the second chorus. Like this one better than Ridin’ (but Kick It is still the NCT SOTY so far).”

4. Love Talk (Love Talk (English Version), 2019)

“I think i prefer the english version because of the boys’ flow and enunciation, but only without taking the lyrics into account. Since it seems to be a SM pattern, i would be very scared to hear a full English take of SuperM’s Jopping.”

3. Moonwalk (Take Over the Moon, 2019)

“Something else that’s interesting with Moonwalk is the inspiration from John Williams and the E.T. soundtrack. The intervals in the pre chorus and bridge are where this stands out the most. I love how it has the grandeur of my favorite Williams soundtracks and conveys the same themes of creation and life.”

“The vocals mesh perfectly with the background music and the new tracks — say it and let me love you — are amazing. i remember vividly when this originally came out it was stuck in my head for days, and was the only thing i’d talk about. the sentient still holds true almost two years later, so stop looking at reviews and go listen!!”
