Adema Albums Ranked

Adema is an American rock band from Bakersfield, California. The band formed in 2000 with members vocalist Mark Chavez, guitarist Tim Fluckey, guitarist Mike Ransom, bassist Dave DeRoo, and drummer Kris Kohls. After their first two albums, Adema, and Unstable, the band was plagued with years of conflict and lineup changes. Ransom left the band in 2003 followed by Chavez later in 2004 due to conflicts between themselves and other members of the band. Luke Caraccioli replaced Chavez in early 2005 for one album, Planets, but then left a few months later in late 2005. Vocalist Bobby Reeves and guitarist Ed Faris, both from the band Level, were recruited to join as well, but only released one album, Kill the Headlights in 2007, before entering a hiatus. The band’s original lineup reformed in late 2009 and toured, but both Ransom and Chavez left again before any new music would be recorded. Fluckey took over lead vocals from 2011 to 2017. The lineup released an EP, Topple the Giants. In 2013 Ransom returned once again; Chavez rejoined the band again in March 2017, only to leave again in 2019. He was replaced by Ryan Shuck. Here are all of Adema’s albums ranked.

5. Kill the Headlights

“I can’t say I wasn’t suprised when I heard this. The new singer is somewhere between being very bland, and being very unique. A paradox of some sorts, but that’s how it is. Anyway, he’s perfectly fine with the music. Along with that, the band sounds more mature without becoming a blander version of themselves.”

4. Unstable

“I LOVE this record it definitely shows a different side to Adema. It clearly shows the growth from their self-titled album. Lyrically and vocally they have improved and matured. There is a wide range of songs to choose from- you can go from a soft and mellow one like ‘So Fortunate’ to an anger-filled one like ‘Needles’. I think ‘Co-dependent was an excellent song to put first. It is so full of energy and just bursts with excitement.”

3. Insomniac’s Dream

“Anyway, I do like all of the songs (except for the live track.), but I will admit the entire sounds pretty generic and consistent. They have only one style and that is loud. They rarely slow down or vary up anything. The entire thing is just straight nu metal. The cover of Nutshell wasn’t really that good.”

2. Planets

“On ‘Planets’, Adema hired a new singer who shortly left. It’s a shame because he gives a great vocal performance. He has a lot of melody, but can add a bit of aggression or grit for variety. I also love the guitar tone, and the drums often sound great with some beefy drum kicks and tom fills.”

1. Adema

“Some people are saying that this Adema album is just a cheap imitation of Linkin Park and other Nu-Metal bands. While it is similar and it is quite likely that they did get inspiration from some of these bands, the music is a fair bit better than some are saying. Most of the low ratings are from people who just don’t like the music, but those who say they like Linkin Park should re-evaluate their review/rating because this album closely resembles Linkin Park’s music. I think that this album was very well made.”
