10. Happy Heart (Happy Heart, 1969)

“This is such a great song! Makes me want to blast it with the windows wide open. This is the kind of song that makes the world happy! It’s right — they don’t make songs like this anymore.”

9. Butterfly (Butterfly, 1957)

“Andy Williams was one of those singers where his voice was great, but it was rarely the main attraction. Nobody would ever say “Andy Williams made the song his own”, but that was sort of the point. His voice, as it were, took a back seat to the song itself, allowing you to enjoy IT more than the singer. There aren’t a lot of singers I would put into this category (Perry Como and Susan Boyle both come to mind), as it’s something of a rarity, then and now.”

8. (Where Do I Begin?) Love Story (Love Story, 1971)

“The 1970 movie “Love Story” was huge, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all time and picking up a slew of awards. Its soundtrack was equally popular, with Henry Mancini’s instrumental, (Where Do I Begin?) Love Story, proving particularly popular.”

7. Almost There (Andy Williams’ Dear Heart 1964)

“Without a doubt one of the best of the great “crooners” of the 50’s and 60’s. Velvety smooth voice with a great range. What a pleasure it was growing up listening to the great music of that era. Kids nowadays have no idea of what they missed but thankfully it’s preserved, so the whole world can listen to it now.”

6. Days of Wine and Roses (Days of Wine and Roses, 1962)

“Written for the 1962 movie of the same name, the song earned Mercer and Mancini the Academy Award for Best Original Song and Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.”

5. Danny Boy (Danny Boy and Other Songs I Love to Sing, 1961)

“Andy Williams is the best that I’ve ever heard sing Danny Boy. When I hear this song, I always end up with with tears streaming down my cheeks. I think it’s because I’ve been in the meadows when Summers return or when the valley’s are hushed with snow. And those memories with friends and family are so strong, it just brings out the emotion.”

4. Can’t Get Used to Losing You (Days of Wine and Roses, 1962)

“With his prime-time TV show providing better promotion than a record label ever could, the album exploded, spending months at number one and sending Williams’ already successful career into overdrive. One of its highlights is the lovely ballad Can’t Get Used to Losing You”

3. Music To Watch Girls By (Music To Watch Girls By, 1966)

“A real easy-listening anthem from the original American smoothie, Mr Andy Williams. The song is also well known in instrumental form, its melody quite similar to Bacharach’s “Casino Royale” released the same year. The superimposed lyric you can take as either fun or lairy depending on your point of view. I’ll cut old Uncle Andy some slack as it was the swinging 60’s I suppose.”

2. Can’t Take My Eyes Off You (Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, 1967)

“In 1967, Frankie Valli hit the number 2 spot on the Billboard 200 with the irresistibly romantic, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. It became his biggest hit of the decade, eventually certifying gold. A year later, Williams released his version. It only reached number 34 in the US, but became a massive hit over the pond, charting at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart and number 8 on the Irish Singles Chart.”

1. Moon River (The Very Best Of Andy Williams, 2009)

“Andy Williams has the most beautiful voice. This song just flows with love. Music like his will go on forever. No wonder our parents loved this stuff! Beautiful songs sung by vocalists with voices as smooth as silk that dripped like honey from their lips.”
