Ballbreaker Songs Ranked

Ballbreaker marked the return of drummer Phil Rudd, who had played with AC/DC from 1975 to 1983. Rudd had left during the Flick of the Switch sessions due to drug problems and his incompatibility with Malcolm Young. According to Arnaud Durieux’s book AC/DC: Maximum Rock & Roll, Rudd attended AC/DC’s show in Auckland in November 1991 and, after a friendly meeting with the band backstage, made an “open-ended pitch” to rejoin if anything changed with the band’s current drummer Chris Slade. Durieux reports that the band eventually invited Rudd to rejoin and he accepted in August 1994, much to the chagrin of Slade, who had been recording demos with the band in London. Slade told Rock Hard France in June 2001 that he was so disappointed and disgusted that he did not touch his drum kit for three years.[citation needed] Slade would eventually rejoin the band for their performance at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony and the 2015 Rock or Bust World Tour following Rudd’s legal issues involving illegal drug possession and threatening to kill his former personal assistant, both of which forced him out of the band a second time. Here are all of Ballbreaker’s songs ranked.

9. Love Bomb

8. Caught With Your Pants Down

“It takes a minute to get started but when it does it blows you away. I love the fast pace in this one. The riff and chorus are incredible. Another sex song. The opening riff and trippy rhythm are a deja vu on “Shake A Leg,” from “Back in Black.”

7. Boogie Man

“This is where most people sit back and go what the heck is this, that’s not typical AC/DC. This song is very blues oriented and pretty darn good at that. Another one of my favorites.”

6. Cover You In Oil

“Pretty good slow song, like the little riff. Another great rockin track and one of my favs off the album good mid tempo rocker.

5. Burnin’ Alive

“My very favorite track on the whole album, it’s not very fast or heavy, but the guitar riff in this song is kickin’. Reminds me of the guys just sitting around jamming. Best song on here besides hard as a rock. The riff and chorus is just badass. I’m honestly not sure what this is about.  Good track!

” Last, but certainly not least in any way, this is another straight ahead rocker and another great song, good way to close out the album for the guys. Great way to end this album. Very simple song but damn if it ain’t good.

2. Hard As A Rock

“Hard As A Rock” follows the tradition Ac/Dc formula.Power chords and just raw power.”The Honey Roll” sounds alot more like Aerosmith in the beggining but soon comes the lyrics and vocals. It then sounds like familiar Ac/Dc again.”
