Big Fright turn a friendship fallout into a gloriously spiteful punk anthem with ‘Sweet Cheeks’
Bristol-based punk outfit Big Fright are embracing their most vindictive instincts with ‘Sweet Cheeks’, a deliciously bitter new track that transforms the collapse of a friendship into an unapologetic celebration of resentment.
Fuelled by the irreverent spirit of egg punk, the single revels in the kind of petty grievances most people would rather keep to themselves. Instead of searching for forgiveness or emotional closure, Big Fright choose confrontation, dark humour and the sheer satisfaction of having the final word.
It’s a wonderfully mischievous premise, capturing the irrational fury of a friendship gone spectacularly wrong without pretending to take the moral high ground.
The band’s story is equally unconventional. Originally conceived in South Africa, Big Fright took shape in Bristol after two immigrants arrived determined to turn their creative frustrations into provocative, melody-driven music.
‘Sweet Cheeks’ is a brilliantly unapologetic introduction to that attitude, proving that sometimes the most entertaining response to heartbreak is simply refusing to be the bigger person.
