Blue Clear Sky Songs Ranked
“Blue Clear Sky” is a song written by Bob DiPiero, John Jarrard, and Mark D. Sanders, and performed by American country music singer George Strait. It was released in March 1996 as the first single and title track from Strait’s album of the same name. “Blue Clear Sky” was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee at Emerald Studios. The song reached Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. Deborah Evans Price, of Billboard magazine, reviewed the song favorably, saying “that readily identifiable, likable, warm Texas voice totally sells this sweet song about the joys of finding love.” She discusses the “catchy, melodic introduction to the steel guitar weaving throughout this lively uptempo number.” Her review was well received despite Erv Woolsey’s (Erv Woolsey Talent Agency) statement, “He’s [George Strait] becoming an event, and all he does is stand up there and sing”, which may suggest that Strait could be seen as inactive up on stage. Here are all of Blue Clear Sky songs ranked.

11. Yes or No
“Check Yes Or No” was another #1 added to that never-ending list. Showing no signs of resting on his duff, George followed the box set & began a new stage of his career with 1996’s BLUE CLEAR SKY.”
10. I Ain’t Never Seen No One Like You
“In country music, an artist can have hits out the wazoo. Why, George Jones has had about 140 country top 40 hits, no surprise for one of the greatest vocalists country music has ever had.”
9. Need I Say More
“The closing “Need I Say More” is truly an eye-opener with a more jazz-based tune & a song that truly is romantic. This proves that what Frank Sinatra is to pop music, George Strait may very well be to country music.”

8. She Knows When You’re on My Mind
“George Strait is another one of those consistently successful country singers who even now shows no signs of coming off his run. By 1995, he had had so many hits, that instead of just an ordinary greatest-hits album, a box set STRAIT OUT OF THE BOX was created to hold them all.”
7. I’d Just as Soon Go
“Some pretty good tunes here including still make cheyenne, carried away, and I’d just as soon go. But, like every other country album, there are some hits and then the rest is crap. It is very hard to listen to any George Strait album all the way through.”
6. Rockin’ in the Arms of Your Memory
“Hearing this led me — a person who had never listened to country music …. who couldn’t imagine myself listening to it with enjoyment — to explore all of George Strait’s albums and it’s an impressive body of work. The man is a living legend.”

5. Do the Right Thing
“In a way George Strait is like McDonald’s, you know exactly what you are going to get. The difference being George Strait is wonderful and will keep you coming back for more. I think this was the first GS album I ever bought and I was not dissappointed. With one great track after another I never tire of listening to it.”
4. Carried Away
“Blue Clear Sky finds the perfect combination of melody and lyrics (even though walkin’ and talkin’ are once again used in a country song), and Carried Away makes the change in rhythm a smooth one. “
3. King of the Mountain
“Quite simply this is what I have come to expect from George Strait. Good easy on the ear country music, with every track in my opinion suited perfectly to this great artiste, and delivered to perfection.”
2. Blue Clear Sky
“George Strait hit his peak with Blue Clear Sky. The hit title song, “Blue Clear Sky”, about finding true love when you least expect it, is an enjoyable, upbeat song.”
1. I Can Still Make Cheyenne
“In country music, an artist can have hits out the wazoo. Why, George Jones has had about 140 country top 40 hits, no surprise for one of the greatest vocalists country music has ever had. Even in the way of #1 hits, an artist can outdo anything the Beatles ever accomplished (Conway Twitty & Ronnie Milsap’s run of #1s is around 40 or so).”
