7. The Funk Capital Of The World

“This CD is amazingly good. The musicianship is top-notch, and the lyrics are as deep and witty as anything ever done by the Parliament/Funkadelic. Not one bad cut on this CD. It sounds surprisingly up-to-date without losing its soul. All the guest artists fit into the P-Funk world without sounding corny; the Bela Fleck collaboration is great! “

6. Fresh Outta ‘P’ University

“Bootsy is one of the best musicians on the planet, as well as an excellent bass player and songwriter…so this cd is no exception to his genius All the songs are good to great. He has unleashed the funk at another level.”

5. Ultra Wave

“The most underrated Bootsy album. Contains Bootsy’s all time vocal performance on “F-Encounter”. The novelty rock & roll jam “Is That My Song?”. Represents Bootsy changing styles with the times and combining New Wave elements with good old psychedelicized P-Funk for the early 80s. Just check out “SoundCrack” with its monstrous mutron-pedaled Space Bass solo near the end of the track.”

4. This Boot Is Made For Fonk-N

“This Boot is Made For Fonk-N” is the last of the “classic” Bootsy’s Rubberband albums. After this various members were absent from the line-up. The sound of the album is glorious chaos with jams like “Chug-a-lug” and “Bootsy Get Live, both of these songs feature the haphazard style of bass that Bootsy made an art of. It’s worth the trip.”

3. Player Of The Year

“Player of the Year is Bootsy’s Rubber Band in top form. The album sees the band stretch its chops from twitchy funk (“Bootsy What’s the name of this Town”) to the celestial groove (“Bootzilla”) to the hazy soul (“As In I Love You”). “Roto-Rooter” is a funk stomper; one can’t help but dance along with the bubbly bass lines. There is a wide depth to this album showcasing the songwriting talent of Bootsy Collins. His use of the Rubber Band to achieve his a version of funk is of great reward to the listener.”

2. Stretchin’ Out In Bootsy’s Rubber Band

“The opening track “Stretching Out…” is so nasty and funky you’ll swear you can smell and see the vapors comin’ off the disc/album, and you’re personally introduced to the sub-sonic twangs and bangs of Bootsy’s intergalactic, custom-made “Space Bass”; you’ll never be the same again. Just as you’re ready to give your booty a rest, “Psychoticbumpschool” snatches you by booty Maximus and forces you, although pleasantly, to shake what your mamma gave ya. “Another Point of View”, the sleeper jam on the album, is just as funky but with a smoother groove guided by either a cowbell or woodblock tempo, with an ethereal synthesizer outro. “I’d Rather Be With You” is one of those songs you listen to when you’re on the phone late at night, candles glowing, incense burning, trying to convince that special someone to drop by for a late night snack…if you know what I mean.”

1. Ahh… The Name Is Bootsy, Baby!

“This CD (album) is solid and it’s pure of funk, musical genius, smooth rhythms, and Bootsy’s swagger (which was only second in the 70’s to Muhammad Ali’s swagger). The title song is as funky as a song can get, and there’s no way anyone can listen to the first 10 seconds and not bob his/her head. Eazy-E basically added a few words to the track and left the music in place for his first single “We Want Eazy.” For a long time I never got past this song to hear the rest of the CD. “The Pinocchio Theory” is a nice, funky track, and “Can’t Stay Away” is a smooth song that puts music lovers where they want to be.”
