London/Kent trio Dead Horse tear into the absurdity of modern life with ‘Funny Farm’, a brilliantly unhinged blast of noise-garage and post-punk satire.
Made up of Kevin Lennon, Josh Kemp and Duncan Clark, the band throw jagged riffs, mutant surf-rock guitars, deranged saxophone and gloriously scrappy punk energy into a track that sounds permanently seconds away from falling apart in all the right ways.
Beneath the chaos, ‘Funny Farm’ carries plenty of bite. Its absurdist lyrics race through snapshots of miserable weather, nowhere towns, cheap romance and everyday degradation before exploding into a deliberately ridiculous political wish list covering healthcare, affordable housing, inherited privilege and racism.
