Dhani Harrison and Nigel Godrich launch new project Dragonflies with debut single ‘Slower’

Dhani Harrison and celebrated producer Nigel Godrich have unveiled Dragonflies, a new collaborative project that will release its self-titled debut album on 18 September. Introducing the record is the atmospheric opening track ‘Slower’, accompanied by a visually striking video from acclaimed animator and filmmaker RUFFMERCY.

The partnership grew from a long-standing mutual admiration before evolving into an instinctive studio collaboration at Godrich’s Brixton workspace. Rather than following a conventional songwriting process, the pair built compositions from tape loops and spontaneous ideas, with Harrison focusing on vocals and guitar while Godrich steered the sonic direction in real time. The resulting sound blends organic instrumentation with subtle electronic textures, creating an expansive style that feels both intimate and cinematic.

Featuring additional contributions from drummer Joey Waronker and orchestral arrangements by David Campbell, the album draws inspiration from artists including Beth Gibbons, David Sylvian and Ryuichi Sakamoto while establishing a distinctive identity of its own.
