Eddie Cochran Songs Ranked
Ray Edward Cochran was an American rock and roll musician. Cochran’s songs, such as “Twenty Flight Rock”, “Summertime Blues”, “C’mon Everybody” and “Somethin’ Else”, captured teenage frustration and desire in the mid-1950s and early 1960s. He experimented with multitrack recording, distortion techniques, and overdubbing even on his earliest singles. He played the guitar, piano, bass, and drums. His image as a sharply dressed and attractive young man with a rebellious attitude epitomized the stance of the 1950s rocker, and in death he achieved iconic status. Cochran died at age 21 in St Martin’s Hospital, Bath, Somerset, after a road accident in Chippenham, Wiltshire, at the end of his British tour in April 1960. He had just performed at the Bristol Hippodrome. Though his best-known songs were released during his lifetime, more of his songs were released posthumously. In 1987, Cochran was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His songs have been recorded by a wide variety of recording artists. Here are all of Eddie Cochran songs ranked.

10. That’s My Desire (Cherished Memories, 1956)
“This song was made famous by Frankie Laine and it suits him much better for he was a crooner and had a much better voice to do that style of song. I think Eddie’s style was rock & roll and he did that very well”
9. Lovin’ Time (Singin’ to My Baby, 1957)
“Cool record, Good quality and came all the way from Jolly Old on time. If you collect Eddie and you don”t have this one. Captures early Eddie not just the hits. Gives you a glimps of his influences”
8. Half Loved (Cherished Memories, 1956)
“Don’t expect an all out rockin’ album as the album is more rock-a-ballad heavy than anything else.
At the time Liberty records couldn’t figure what bracket to put Eddie in, they kind of figured a cross between Elvis & Pat Boone, so at the time his early singles had a Rocker on one side & a ballad on the other.”

7. Dark Lonely Street (Cherished Memories, 1956)
“This is the alternate take version, that I love more than any other. His voice is just so dark and depressed. Absolutely incredible. One of Kid Cochran’s finest.”
6. I Remember (The Eddie Cochran Memorial Album, 1960)
“He sounds like he’s in a Heavenly Acoustic chamber. Perfect sound, a warm wall enveloping the listener. Shows human fraility at times with a slightly wavering choked up voice, perfect. Elvis was good, but Eddie was otherworldly-genius-like.”
5. Fool’s Paradise (A Legend In Our Time, 1971)
“Eddie’s vocals are so deep, emotional and expressive. It captivates me every time I listen to it because that’s how effective this song is and it really goes to the heart.”

4. Strollin’ Guitar (The Legendary, 1971)
“Fantastic . Eddie was ahead of his time. For a 21 year old .. He achieved so much in his short life . wrote a lot of classics. So much . great great guitar picking . rock and roller. Sadly .playing with the angels now.”
3. C’mon Everybody (Eddie Cochran, 1963)
“C’mon Everybody is great party rock and roll from the prehistoric age of rock. There is nothing serious goin on here just fast swinging rock music. Infectious vocal riffing with some cool lead guitar from Eddie Cochran. Good tune to dance with a young lass.”
2. Pocketful of Hearts (The Eddie Cochran Memorial Album, 1960)
“Pocket Full of Hearts” gets stuck in my head so easily, but its the A side that wins me over. Eddie let’s loose like never before on that one. Just try and sit still. Eddie Cochran could not really release a bad single at this point in his career.”
1. Summertime Blues (Who I Am, 1994)
“The rollicking, rockabilly-inspired “Summertime Blues” was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, prompting Cochran to schedule a tour of the UK in early 1960. Tragically, it was during that tour that Cochran died in a road accident at the age of twenty-one. Despite the brevity of his life and career, his signature track remains an immortal summer anthem.”
