Exo-CBX (Korean: 엑소-첸백시 Exo-Chen-Baek-Xi; stylized as EXO-CBX) is the first official sub-unit of South Korean–Chinese boy band Exo. Formed by SM Entertainment in 2016, the group is composed of three Exo members: Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin. Their debut extended play Hey Mama! was released on October 31, 2016. On July 29, 2016, Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin appeared in a video titled “Reservoir Idols” during Exo’s concert tour Exo Planet 3 – The Exo’rdium. They then released an original soundtrack titled “For You” for the SBS television drama series Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo on August 23, 2016. As a result, it was speculated that they would form Exo’s first sub-unit. This was confirmed by SM Entertainment on October 5. On October 23, they performed “For You” for the first time as a unit at the 2016 Busan One Asia Festival. 4. Hey Mama!

“That’s the power and talent of EXO! Even with just a few members you can get AMAZING VOCALS and performance! Sometimes I think I like EXO-CBX even more than EXO. I think it’s the chance to hear more Xiumin that does it for me although the song choices for the subunit are also excellent”

3. Girls

“I honesty they should promote with King and Queen. Just go around to cafés randomly and start singing this. If you catch them you’re lucky. And when the hype is dying down whilst doing this promotion, they drop an English version with an aesthetic music video.”

2. Magic

“I absolutely love this album from CBX! EXO has the best sub unit in kpop! It is such a fun upbeat album, the ballads are very well done as these 3 guys are some of the most powerful vocals in EXO. The fact it is done in Japanese is a plus, they pulled of that language very well.”

1. Blooming Days

“Even when the members go for a more laid-back delivery or tone, the instrumentals are still groovy as hell. The closer on here, Lazy, has such a tight and satisfying rhythm section. That bass, that kick and that snare are not abrasive, not overpowering; they pack a funky punch that I absolutely adore, and one that blends in beautifully with the mood of the track. Even if the song is a bit slower when compared to moments like Vroom Vroom, it’s still a nocturnal, funky highlight. Another fine example of that very premise (?) is Sweet Dreams, which is not as in-your-face as Blooming Day or Vroom Vroom but will still get your head nodding to the crisp drum section (particularly that lush kick drum) as it goes along.”
