Full Flower Moon Band make optimism sound dangerous on ‘Endless Summer’
Brisbane five-piece Full Flower Moon Band push positivity towards breaking point on ‘Endless Summer’, a thrilling new single where sunshine gradually gives way to something altogether more volatile.
Heavy psych-rock guitars, a hypnotically circling riff and an enormous chorus initially make the track feel euphoric. Listen closer, however, and its relentless optimism becomes increasingly unsettling. Frontwoman Kate “Babyshakes” Dillon describes the song as “the voice of a manic episode”, with its declarations of unstoppable confidence gathering intensity until they begin to feel compulsive rather than reassuring.
The track previews forthcoming album After Dark, written during Dillon’s month in New York as part of the Grant McLennan Fellowship, and arrives alongside a new music video.
