9. Good Times, Bad Times: Ten Years Of Godsmack (2009)

“This is truly Godsmack’s greatest hits collection from start to finish. Each and every song on here even has the amount of weeks it was on the rock charts. There were a few songs I think should have hit number one but hey everyone has their own taste in music. So if your a hardcore Godsmack fan pick this cd/dvd set up and sit back and blast this music in your car or bedroom. If your just getting into Godsmack then this a great starting point.”

8. The Other Side (2004)

“The band ventures into some really great dark minor key acoustic jam sessions as well as some middle eastern vibe riffs & the use of congo/bongo and other various percussion is mesmerizing…check out song #6 “Spiral”…its hypnotic rise and fall will really grab you !! Song #7 – “Asleep” is another powerfully understated song that escapes you on the first play through but one you’ll come back to again and again…I even find myself doing an echo, repeating “Chris Cornell-esque/Soundgarden” type harmony (its not in the song but if you listen it will just come to you !!) And without a doubt the song that will definitely make a believer out of you has to be “Touche`”…..the acoustic guitar just pulls you in with the little style intro….and the words are classic…a quid pro quo look at the world. “

7. Faceless (2003)

“This band has a driving sound that draws me in. The sound mixing they do makes my stero come alive!! I was hooked from the first time I heard ‘ I STAND ALONE’ The raw power in the vocals is just mesmerizing. Their sound is the equivalent of a thunder storm coming through my ear buds. I feel goose bumps rise. Godsmack means awestruck…Well, that about sums it up for me. BEWARE: Their sound can blow stock speakers! I kid you not!”

6. The Oracle (2010)

“The oracle, great album. Heavy guitar riffs, and man, the basslines are killer. Sullys vocals branch out a little into some new areas, a couple songs even have a very alice in chains feel to them. My only complaint is that its too short. But if you hunt down the 3 bonus tracks, then burn a copy with them on it, you get an amazing album. I’ve had it since the day it came out and still can’t stop listening to it.”

5. 1000HP (2014)

“The album has several parts that actually flow really well together. The first few songs hearken back to the Faceless and Awake. But as the album progresses, you begin to hear influences from Sully Erna’s solo work – added instruments but blended with their signature guitar, drum and bass sound. If you like both Godsmack and Sully’s solo stuff (as I do), then you’ll appreciate the diversity from the album and how well he has melded it together.”

4. Awake (2000)

“Awake” has always been one of my favorite albums during my high school days, and I still love listening to it even to this day. This absolute beast of an album picks right up where Godsmack’s amazing self titled debut left off, and as much as I loved that first album of theirs, however “Awake” is a much more stronger effort than the debut album, and dare I say it is also the band’s best album in my humble opinion as well. There’s absolutely no question that this album just flat out rocks hard, and is just loaded with pure attitude throughout, and it really showcases Godsmack developing their own sound while retaining the Metallica/Alice in Chains feel which was present on the debut.”

3. When Legends Rise (2018)

“Very good album. Yes, it is a departure from their previous style, but let’s be honest here: In the last few years, Godsmack had gotten very stale. The whiskey song for instance, a pathetic rehash of the same near exact sounding songs that Godsmack had been releasing for a long long time. I heard Bulletproof being played and was immediately drawn in. No, it’s not as hard as the typical Godsmack, but it is what Godsmack needed: to break out of the mold a little bit. The album itself is a softer feel, if you want to call it more “pop”, go for it, but that harder sound was dragging this band into the grave.”

2. IV (2006)

“IV continues to be my favorite Godsmack album to date, so much so that it was the first album that I downloaded. At the time of it’s release it was considered a gamble for Godsmack to include the acoustic track “Hallow” a duet with Lisa Guyer (who later was part of Sully Erna’ s solo project Avalon.) My favorite songs on this album are the song Hallow, and Showdown along with the more expected sounds of Speak, The Enemy and, Bleeding Me. I don’t have a song that I dislike actually. I would highly recommend this album to others.”

1. Godsmack (1998)

“Coming hot off the heels of bands like Korn and Deftones, Godsmack burst onto the late 90s metal scene with their style of grunge and classic rock-infused nu metal sound. Their self-titled debut is a good starting point for those wanting to get into the band’s work. This album produces many hard-hitting, powerful and catchy alternative metal numbers like ‘Whatever’ and ‘Keep Away’ which have become staples of the band’s catalogue. The guitar work on the album is terrific and clearly inspired by the sludgy sound of Alice in Chains as well as the staccato groove style of Korn.”
