10. Half a Man

“George Martin didn’t work with just anybody-and the talent of this band almost rivals the Beatles. This band is criminally overlooked nowadays.I think if they put out one of those ULTIMATE collection deals , and ran the commercial all the time-it would sell like crazy, and make people realize how great this band is/was”

9. Old Virginia

“America released many, many albums that had titles starting with the letter “H”. This is a great album no matter what letter it starts with. This produced some hit singles, but it’s actually the other tracks that are awesome.”

8. Company

“Company works great with the constant pauses of tabla, you dont know quite where they are going with it, until the chorus kicks in. I remember when I first listened to this album when it first came out. I loved it! And after listening to it again I can honestly say that I still love it!”

7. Daisy Jane

“HEARTS, which I am also glad to have, is definitely my most favorite album by AMERICA, eventhough they seemed to be moving further away from their original style of music. GERRY BECKLEY’s piano ballad DAISY JANE that features excellent harmony vocals, acoustic guitars, and the orchestra is an outstanding beginner”

6. Bell Tree

“GERRY’S BELL TREE is also excellent with the keyboards and the acoustic guitars. George Martin returns to the helm here (he would do the next three albums as well), producing 12 glossy tracks that just sound crisp and great.”

5. The Story of a Teenager

“Lots of different styles here, from pop rockers to soft rock to folk to yacht rock to orchestration. The songwriting is top notch. Comparable to Holiday in terms of quality. I enjoy it from beginning to end, it’s one of their best albums.”

2. Simple Life

“It is a very nice album to listen to, featuring mostly their folk pop. There are a lot of nice folky ballad with beautiful melodies. Dan Peek, especially, is talented at writing gorgeous, fragile melodies.”

1. Sister Golden Hair

“SISTER GOLDEN HAIR is excellent with his lead vocals, DAN’S rhythm and steel guitar playing, the acoustic guitar by GERRY and DEWEY. ‘Hearts’ is also somewhat of a transition album from the purely folk sounding album to a sound where they experiment more with arrangements and different styles; after all, they had George Martin at their disposal.”
