Jet Lag Fuel let jealousy turn toxic on ‘Jealous Eyes’

North Hollywood five-piece Jet Lag Fuel explore the ugly point where love, jealousy and insecurity begin feeding off one another on their new single ‘Jealous Eyes’.

Rooted in alternative and indie-rock, the band draw heavily from the grit of early-90s grunge while filtering those influences through the energy of the contemporary Los Angeles guitar scene. ‘Jealous Eyes’ uses that backdrop to tackle something considerably darker than straightforward romantic jealousy.

The song follows an attachment becoming increasingly destructive. Admiration turns into obsession, while the desire to remain indispensable to another person develops into a self-sacrificial need to become their saviour. Even their successes become something to cling to, initially providing validation before gradually becoming another source of resentment.

It’s a sharp premise for Jet Lag Fuel, taking the emotional volatility associated with grunge and giving it a distinctly modern psychological edge. ‘Jealous Eyes’ finds the band digging into the uncomfortable territory where affection ends and possession begins.
