EFE walks the tightrope between desire and regret on ‘Fine Line’
EFE, the solo project of Quebec musician and visual artist Simon Choquette, introduces a deeply personal new chapter with ‘Fine Line’, the title track from his first solo EP.
Driven by thick, expressive guitars and the emotional weight of 90s alternative rock, the track explores two people tentatively moving back towards one another after their relationship has fractured. Apologies collide with lingering attraction, creating a constant push and pull between caution and desire as the possibility of romance begins to resurface.
Fans of The Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Failure and Sunny Day Real Estate should find plenty to sink into, but ‘Fine Line’ also introduces EFE as an intensely personal outlet for Choquette.
The frontman performs every instrument and vocal on ‘Fine Line’, with the track recorded at Le Pantoum in Quebec City alongside Olivier Quirion. He also wrote the lyrics and created the artwork, making EFE’s arrival feel completely and unmistakably his own.
