FloodHounds turn division into a rallying cry on the explosive ‘Got a Connection’
FloodHounds come roaring back with ‘Got a Connection’, a blistering collision of fuzzed-up guitars, punk attitude and psychedelic chaos built around one enormous, shout-it-back chorus.
The Sheffield trio — Jack Flynn, Anna Melidone and Lauren Greaves — channel the confrontational energy of IDLES and Kid Kapichi alongside the breakneck hooks of Bad Nerves, turning frustration with division and manipulation into something fiercely communal. Gang vocals pile into the chorus, reinforcing the track’s central message that connection can prove stronger than the forces pulling people apart.
‘Got a Connection’ also introduces a new partnership with producer Sam Bloor, who encouraged FloodHounds to push their already ferocious sound somewhere stranger. That becomes particularly apparent during the psychedelic second-half breakdown, where vibraslaps, tremolo guitar and analogue delays send the track gloriously off the rails.
With Swiss dates and their biggest Sheffield headline show yet ahead, ‘Got a Connection’ sounds like a band getting louder, wilder and increasingly difficult to ignore.
