15. Serve the Ego (This Way, 2001)

“Wow! this song rocks! Ah it has that strange and distant feel to it, and of course her voice is like aaaaah! so lovely Check out her humming half way through the song till the end, ah man! it takes you on a high!”

14. Stay Here Forever (Valentine’s Day, 2010)

“This is such a feel-good song, whenever it starts playing I feel like cycling around the countryside on a sunny day, eating ice creams and stuff. This song is also on Valentine’s day OST.”

13. Satisfied (Sweet and Wild, 2010)

” This is a Grammy nominated one. And such an emotional song with Jewel’s ever beautiful and soothing voice. Love this”

12. 2 Become 1 (0304, 2003)

“Wow, this was very different for her. I had to listen to it a couple of times to get use to it. I guess it fits these days and ages but i kind of liked jewels old more uniquely music.”

11. Adrian (Pieces of You, 1995)

“So sad, yet so beautiful… her voice reflects the emotion. Yes, it seems as if she literally cries in this song… That is Jewel for you. Such a powerful and moving song and yet so simple…”

10. Down So Long (Spirit, 1998)

“Seems so sad and like she’s giving up. I think she could be talking about her time to die is coming up soon, whether by suicide or another cause, I don’t know. Really love this song though. The emotion in it is so beautiful.”

9. Break Me (This Way, 2001)

“To me, it’s the longing of one that you love. It’s the needing and yearning to be with them again, whether it be because of the distance between the two or maybe because of separation in the relationship or by death. You just need the feeling of belonging to someone again, you just crave for the touch even though you know you are being too vulnerable.”

8. Standing Still (This Way, 2001)

“This sounds kinda pop country-ish, so in retrospect it’s bizarre to me that Jewel didn’t go country instead. It’s less of a stretch from her folksy acoustic background than the faux-Britney dance pop direction she pivoted to.”

7. What’s Simple Is True (Spirit, 1998)

“I love this song simply because it can fit that mood. I’m sorry I don’t find it cheesy. It just simply states, there isn’t anything complicated, I just love you.”

6. Hands (Spirit, 1998)

“I think that this song means that for the time we are here to make a change, do something positive, love on another. I really love this song. I think Jewel is awesome.”

5. Stand (0304, 2003)

“This song has a strong sociological, and maybe even political, message. Because our society tends to look at things with optimism, it usually overlooks reality. Sure, things don’t seem all bad, but they’re not exactly peachy (“It’s not all dirty but it’s not all clean”). To add to that, there’s deception everywhere, in magazines, advertisements, even in authority figures.”

4. You Were Meant for Me (Pieces of You, 1995)

“A pretty much perfect moody 90’s radio ballad, even down to the bridge. This used to get stuck in my head all the time as a kid. Her vocal affections are spot on and the lyrics instantly stick with you. I’m gonna go learn this on guitar now.”

3. Intuition (0304, 2003)

“Intuition” was the lead-off single for Jewel’s album, 0304. From the first moment you hear the accordion and “record skips” at the beginning of the song, you know that this is not going to be a “typical” Jewel song. The song is more “dance-friendly” than many of her previous singles, and this sound is a refreshing change of pace. The song is about following your intuition and your heart because they won’t lead you wrong; the lyrics of the song even manage to “name drop” a couple of celebrities (Kate Moss and Charlie Sheen).”

2. Who Will Save Your Soul (Pieces of You, 1995)

“I’ve always liked this song, I find it to be a little dark and a lot sexy. Shame she would never come close to approaching it, instead putting out a whole heaping helping of crap to follow it (“Foolish Games” aside.)”

1. Foolish Games (Pieces of You, 1995)

“This is one of the most heartfelt ballads I have ever heard. It’s beautiful, and perhaps one of Jewel’s best ever. Jewel sings with maturity and emotion. It really touches you.”
