Jonny Corralitos returns with reggae-infused new single ‘Stoner Girl’

Californian singer-songwriter and producer Jonny Corralitos has released his latest single ‘Stoner Girl’, following his recent cover of The Velvet Underground’s ‘Who Loves The Sun’.

The track combines reggae, pop and psychedelic rock influences, featuring grooving basslines, rhythmic percussion, organ melodies, fuzzy guitars and layered vocal harmonies.

Inspired by a true story, ‘Stoner Girl’ explores a relationship characterised by intense attraction, emotional frustration and ultimately incompatible lifestyles.

Corralitos explains that the lyrics were originally written by a friend about his former girlfriend, with the songwriter developing the musical arrangement to reflect the relationship’s complicated dynamics.

The recording features Dave Brogan (ALO, Jack Johnson) on drums and Andre de Santanna (Jason Mraz, Ziggy Marley) on bass, alongside contributions from several longtime collaborators.

Additional production and mixing support came from Kat Factor, Dave Simon-Baker and Grammy-winning engineer Alfonso Rodenas.
