Lunar & The Deception journey beyond the living on epic new single ‘The Great Bison’

UK darkwave outfit Lunar & The Deception return with the extraordinary ‘The Great Bison’, their first new material since the release of debut album The Somnambulist earlier this year.

Spanning six minutes, the new single trades the album’s more outward-looking themes for an intensely personal meditation on loss and what might exist beyond it. Frontwoman Britt Xyra Dusk imagines a soul travelling into the afterlife alongside a spectral herd of bison, transforming grief into something vast, cinematic and strangely beautiful.

Beginning almost at a whisper, ‘The Great Bison’ steadily gathers momentum as swelling strings, increasingly forceful percussion and soaring vocals converge in a thunderous climax. Despite its dark subject matter, the track ultimately reaches for hope, presenting death as transformation and exploring how those we lose can continue to shape us through memory.
