4. This Unruly Mess I’ve Made (2016)

This Unruly Mess I've Made - Album by Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis | Spotify

“Him and Ryan Lewis are very good at making pop hip hop, but his efforts to be cool and relatable as well as his poor grasp of his own privilege, seriously embarrasses him more than once. But unlike with every other cringed white pop-rapper, I find his slip ups hilarious.”

3. The Heist (2012)

The Heist - Album by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis | Spotify

“Well yeah, its a bit more poppy then your usual conscious hip hop. And his biggest success thus far is a bit of a novelty track. But it isn’t bad for all its poppiness. And if Ben and Ryan can get this sort of thing to start hitting the mainstream, I say all the power to them, cause its damn refreshing to hear some stuff that isn’t blatant cliche gangster stuff that I can get in a record shop without having to special order.”

2. The Language Of My World (2005)

The Language of My World - Album by Macklemore | Spotify

“I went on a Macklemore rampage and bought all of his work and after listening to his stuff for about a month now this album is the BEST. He speaks a lot about stereotypes, racism, discrimination, and his own struggles. This album is more old school rap than hip-hop, but it is still catchy and easy to listen to and enjoy. This has the most personality and passion of Macklemore and what he wants his listeners to realize and understand about him and the world we live in.”

1. Gemini (2017)

Macklemore: Gemini Album Review | Pitchfork

“Yet another quality outing from Macklemore here on Gemini. I personally believe him to be one of the more underrated artists of the last few years. The Heist, Unruly Mess, and Gemini have all been excellent and have great balances of playful tracks and serious subject matter. Highly recommended.”
