MAXWELLTHEBAND find hope at the end of the world with new single ‘Optimist’

When the world feels like it’s falling apart, sometimes the only reasonable response is to turn up the guitars and scream along. Southampton emo-punk outfit MAXWELLTHEBAND embrace that philosophy wholeheartedly on ‘Optimist’, a gloriously chaotic and infectious new single that transforms existential dread into an exhilarating celebration of creative perseverance.

Drawing inspiration from the emotionally charged punk of The Menzingers and AJJ, the track combines bleak lyrical observations with irresistible melodies and a towering, singalong chorus.

Written while preparing for their trip to the United States to perform at The Fest, ‘Optimist’ explores the increasingly difficult task of remaining creatively motivated in a world seemingly hurtling towards catastrophe.

Having already released two EPs exploring everything from cosmic cats to the inevitable collapse of good things, MAXWELLTHEBAND continue to develop their distinctive blend of irreverent humour and emotional honesty.
