Meryl Streek shares defiant new single ‘Rags To Riches’
Irish spoken-word punk artist Meryl Streek has released his latest single, ‘Rags To Riches’, continuing the rollout for his forthcoming album Stories They Don’t Teach You At School, due for release this October through Venn Records.
While recent track ‘Rotten Fruit’ confronted misinformation and media influence, ‘Rags To Riches’ shifts the focus towards personal determination. The song reflects on taking chances, trusting your instincts and recognising when it’s time to leave negative influences behind in pursuit of something better.
The release is accompanied by a new video that uses surreal imagery to examine the challenges of pursuing music in an era shaped by online judgement, highlighting the resilience required to keep creating despite constant scrutiny.
Alongside the single, Streek has also revealed a new documentary charting his journey as an independent musician and outspoken social commentator. Premiering at the Galway Film Fleadh, the film offers an insight into the passion and conviction that have helped establish him as one of Ireland’s most distinctive voices on the alternative music scene.
