My Friend Chloe introduce ambitious debut EP with powerful new single ‘Grief’

Brisbane six-piece My Friend Chloe have unveiled ‘Grief’, the first chapter in their forthcoming debut EP ‘Grief Is Just Love In A Dirty Ashtray’. Serving as the opening piece of a four-part interconnected project, the single offers an emotionally charged introduction to the band’s expansive creative vision.

Blending the pulse of 90s dance culture with the intensity of contemporary post-punk, ‘Grief’ finds the Australian outfit combining soaring synths, interwoven guitars and multiple vocal perspectives into something both cathartic and exhilarating.

But rather than treating loss as something to overcome, the track explores what happens when we sit alongside it, examining absence, identity and the possibility of growth through difficult experiences. Its message remains intentionally open, inviting listeners to discover their own interpretation.
