20. Love In the 21st Century (Pop Psychology, 2014)

“The opening track “Love In the 21st Century” grabs your attention with its vocal swagger and the witty lyric, “Wish I could dissect your brain apart; It takes a vivisection just to understand your heart.”

19. Phones (Start A Fire, 2009)

“Good catchy lyrics mixed with funky beats to move to. Great album to listen to when looking for something to put you in a better/happy mood.”

18. Helpless (Habits, 2010)

“This is a solid debut album for a band with amazing potential. The band was just establishing their sound at the time and as a listener you can see flashes of greatness and glimpses into the sound that their future albums would become.”

17. Love and Affection (Habits, 2010)

“Habits, the debut album by Neon Trees, is a pretty good case study in the issues with radio-friendly pop/rock in the last ten years. The style of the album is driven by a formula of mediocre hooks and sing-along choruses with one or two tracks rising to the top as single material and the rest of the album existing purely for the purpose of meeting the length requirement for the work to be considered an “album”

16. Moving in the Dark (Picture Show, 2012)

“That’s one hell of an 80s intro for a pop song in 2012 (oh wait… nevermind that). Not too sure about the flatlined chorus, which seems to sound better when it comes in vocoded singalong form in the back of the bridge.”

15. Teenage Sounds (Picture Show, 2012)

“More of the punk tone here. Tyler does a sort of Iggy Pop thing (okay, that sounds like the Strokes, except he does it without Julian’s stupid vocoder effect). The intros interesting, but a bit out of place with the rest of the song.”

14. Mad Love (Picture Show, 2012)

“And back into the 1980s. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy/don’t mind the 1980s thing, just pointing it out. The girl gets a lead vocal on this one for a bit which helps break up Tyler’s somewhat limited voice.”

13. Lessons in Love (All Day, All Night) (Picture Show, 2012)

“Neon Trees feat Kaskade (Kaskade also has a version the other way around that I haven’t heard). This seems a bit more inl ine with modern pop, probably because of the aforementioned fact. Its a good song, but does seem out of place with the semi-retro tone of the rest of the record.”

12. Wish List (Wish List, 2010)

“A well produced excellent pop record. We`ve played it constantly since its release. and thoroughly enjoy it. You sense even more is to come from the band”

11. Text Me In the Morning (Pop Psychology, 2014)

“Atypical of the indie rock style, the majority of the album is decorated in numerous colourful rocking tunes with addictive hooks and glimmering riffs – but whilst many indie acts fall short of the fence in making something both catchy and different, Neon Trees, whilst focusing very much on love as a theme, manage to make an intriguing album which is bound to become trapped in your head forever.”

10. Close to You (Picture Show, 2012)

“Underrated Neon Trees song. Beautiful lyrics. Hands down their best song. Listen to it, it’s cool. Smooth. A Little dark.”

9. Sleeping With a Friend (Pop Psychology, 2014)

“This song is amazing. I listen to it on repeat all the time because it always makes me feel so happy. the best part of this song is that you can listen to it forever and not get tired of it”

8. I Am the D.J. (Picture Show, 2012)

“Shouldn’t this be “We are”, you’re a band guys (and girl). Speaking of The Killers, this sounds like it fell off Hot Fuss and the Trees found it while recording.”

7. 1983 (Habits, 2010)

“I just can’t stop listening to this song! It’s so catchy and I wish more people new about it! “1983” are a little cheezy but still succeed in being fun.”

6. Sins of My Youth (Habits, 2010)

“It’s catchy. I can’t explain why, but I just love it. One of my favorite songs of all time for sure. This “sins” of his youth”, all the drama in this song.”

5. In the Next Room (Habits, 2010)

“They are hands down my absolute favorite band and this is my new favorite song of theirs. Definitely the best song on this list to me! I’ve been listening to it on repeat…”

4. Alarm (Start A Fire, 2009)

“Enjoyable album. I was engaged and entertained, might give it a few more listens one day. Certain tracks show they’re experimenting a bit though, perhaps for the better? I don’t know.”

3. Your Surrender (Habits, 2010)

“My all time favourite song, it’s got lyrics that don’t actually make sense but still means something, and is just epic. I previously had not heard this song until I saw it on YouTube, and I have to admit it is growing on me. It starts out a little slow and builds into a catchy pop song with smooth lyrics and vocals. Good choice.”

2. Animal (Habits, 2010)

“A great rock song that has powerful vocals and a great sing-a-long chorus to top it off. It is a great rock song that paid off by Neon Trees. It always cheers me up for some reason. Definitely one of my favorite songs of all time. Highly recommended”

1. Everybody Talks (Picture Show, 2012)

“Every time I hear this song I freak out! Once it was playing on the radio at school and my mouth dropped open and I silently screamed “Yes! ” and everyone started looking at me weird. We were watching a talent show once and someone had the song in there act and I did the same thing.”
