10.  Roommate (TIMELESS, 2022)

“Yes, I love their ballads. Yes, they are undoubtedly comforting. Yes, they make me smile. But you’ve already released two ballads before! Why are y’all always so depressed? Release something upbeat finally, guys!”

9. Universe (Planet Nine : VOYAGER 2022)

“I bet it sounds much better to those who know the meaning of each line and the meaning of the song overall. It sounds like a lesser Journey song, and for those of us who sing a lot of Journey (ahem), there is the soaring vocals and the guitar solo, but then there is the deep sentimentality. I think we are missing that point.”

8. Star (STAR, 2021)

“I think ONEWE’s melodies are one of their biggest strengths, at least within their prechoruses and choruses. Though, it probably helps that Yonghoon sounds so ridiculously compelling all the time.”

7. Rain To Be (Planet Nine : Alter Ego, 2021)

“I liked the chorus quite a bit but more could’ve been done with the verses. In a contrast, I love it when idol bands go angsty giving their version of ‘tough’. The album is quite varied too with the I tro building great atmosphere followed by the title. AuRoRa chugs on with a great groove and logo continues this in an interesting way.”

6. A Book In Memory (MEMORY : illusion, 2020)

“I will sound very biased here. I really love the song very much. As I said before, I am a sucker for rock bands and ballads a lot. I like the build up from start to finish, and the way they expressed the song really blew me up.”

5. Parting (STUDIO WE : Recording, 2020)

“I personally really like the song. When I heard it the first time during the concert I thought it was a bit anticlimactic but then when I listened to it this morning, I loved it. It definitely leans more into a band/rock sound than their previous releases which I personally love and it kept changing up in ways that I didn’t expect it to.”

4. End Of Spring (ONE, 2020)

“Once again the MV is here to remind you that they play instruments. After going trap, the band is going Avicii, I guess we will never have a rock song but as you said, at least it’s not boring and Yonghoon can finally shine. After OnlyOneOf and Park Jihoon, this is the third male comeback where I can feel summer vibes… I like this dynamic !”

3. Q (ft. Hwasa) (ONE, 2020)

“The producers seem to forget that Onewe are a Band, and bands play instruments. They don’t just hold them for decorative effects. Hwasa was also used for decorative effect. The hook does nothing to showcase the singer’s talents, and it repeats and goes on like a Winner song.”

2. Regulus (ONE, 2020)

“I listened to the song again (to spare you the pain), and I wouldn’t call this sonata form. The intro is just a toned down version of the chorus (same melody, no percussion, fewer layers), making this more analogous to a Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Verse-Bridge/Breakdown-Chorus structure. The verses, however, *are* plodding and meandering enough that I can understand why your head might go “is this supposed to be the development?”

1. Reminisce About All (ONE, 2020)

“Actually I like the song very much as the melody is great but I wish they had chosen to stick with either or, not both. Either orchestrate it for a five piece band, or orchestrate it for full surrounding instrumentation. Like the Beatles, it was either just the Beatles on the stage, or late Beatles with all the supporting instrumentation.”
