Plain White T’s Albums Ranked

Plain White T’s are an American rock band from Lombard, Illinois, formed in 1997 by high school friends Tom Higgenson, Dave Tirio, and Ken Fletcher. They were joined a short time later by Steve Mast. The group had a mostly underground following in Chicago basements, clubs, and bars in its early years. The band had a number-one hit song with “Hey There Delilah”, which achieved platinum status in 2007 and earned two Grammy nominations. Their songs and “Rhythm of Love” were certified platinum in 2009 and 2011. Here are all of Plain White T’s albums ranked.

8. Parallel Universe (2018)

“The tune is amazing! I LOVE guitar stuff, and this fits right in there. Ever since I experienced The Last of Us by Naughty Dog… and heard Gustavo Santaolalla’s music… I’ve fallen in love with guitar tunes… and this one sounds like it could be in that world.”

7. American Nights (2015)

“As with most Plain White T’s albums, American Nights contains a couple/three true gems if you search for them. Unfortunately, you need to wade through cutesy mispronunciations such as ‘babeh’ (baby) & ‘meh’ (me) and some other (dare I say teeny-bopper) trend-jumping along the way.”

6. Stop (2002)

“The Plain White T’s also avoid the one dimension-ness of many new emo bands.. The songwriting is incredible, spanning from a plea to an alcoholic friend, (Shine) to an heartbreaking song of a lost friend (Radios in Heaven).. The classic emo themes are definitely not lost, however. The song Lonely September, my favorite on the album, is one of the best pure acoustic emo songs i’ve heard in a long long while. The lyrics capture the loneliness, helplessness, and paranoia of a breakup like only emo can. (Example- “Sitting here all by myself just trying to think of somethin to do, tryin to think of somethin anything just to keep me from thinking of you). Stop is built beautifully.”

5. Come On Over (2000)

“Yeah, they’re a little poppy, but they do it so well, it’s infectious and irresistible. The songs were great, and they played virtually all of Big Bad World, my personal favorite. These guys rock, have fun, engage the crowd, and genuinely enjoy themselves.”

4. Big Bad World (2008)

“This is the best work the band has put out. I was wondering if they were going to have the depth and maturity that they show on this work. Delilah was such a huge hit for them it’s always interesting to see if they were a one hit wonder or if they have staying power. This cd shows they have staying power. The work is melodic and poetic and sensitive in it’s content. The cord changes and progressions are a nice change of pace in today’s mainstream rock.”

3. Every Second Counts (2006)

“There is some good heavy songwriting on here and it is different than All that we needed. It is as if Plain White T’s weren’t afraid to reinvent themselves already, cause this album sounds different than All that we needed, but still has the heart of songwriting, with good progressions and good vocals. I don’t have Stop so this album could be reminiscent of that album.”

2. Wonders of the Younger (2010)

“This album has songs in different styles, from simple and near-acoustic to rock anthems. The songs are both classic and modern at the same time. All of the songs have beautiful singable melodies and good hooks.”

1. All That We Needed (2005)

“The songs are very good and well written even if they are slightly repetitive. Many of their lyrics are sweet love songs or songs about relationships gone wrong that would appeal to many who listen to emo music.”
