Radio Moscow Songs Ranked

Radio Moscow is an American psychedelic rock band from Story City, Iowa. Formed in 2003, the band currently features singer-guitarist Parker Griggs, bassist Anthony Meier, and drummer Paul Marrone. Signed to Alive Naturalsound Records, the trio has released five full-length albums as of June 2017. Prior to the formation of the band, Parker Griggs recorded under the solo alias Garbage Composite. After completing an album’s worth of material, Griggs enlisted bassist Serana Andersen to form Radio Moscow, and the duo relocated to Colorado. Following a show, Griggs got a demo into the hands of The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach, who then helped in getting Radio Moscow signed to Alive Naturalsound Records. During this time, Parker recorded the contents of 3 & 3 Quarters which was eventually released in 2012 under Radio Moscow. The album is predominantly Garage Rock, with all instruments handled by Griggs. Here are all of Radio Moscow’s songs ranked.

8. Black Boot (Brain Cycles, 2009)

“This is my jam, man! So awesome. Also, it’s interesting to me how on the album cover it depicts the tear duct on the left side of the third eye. Makes me wonder which side it’d be on if third eyes were real, or would they have none. lol.”

7. No Good Woman (Brain Cycles, 2009)

“Radio Moscow are great, just great, and they certainly made my day today: the guitar player is outstanding, and it’s a crying shame that he seems to be a teenager born into the myspace/iPod generation. no fault of his, certainly… man, the kid can play. watch out, he might just become a true legend very soon, against all odds!”

6. Luckydutch (Radio Moscow, 2007)

“This is an oustanding debut album. Parker Griggs is one of the best rock and roll guitarists I’ve heard in quite some time. It’s mind boggling that this guy is in his early twenties. He sounds like he has decades of experience. Even more impressive is that he lays down some killer drum work on all of the tracks on this album. This guy is a real prodigy, and I would love to see this group make it big.”

5. Just Don’t Know (Brain Cycles, 2009)

“No band has ever reminded me more of the Jimi Hendrix Experience as Moscow does. The lead guitars are outstanding and they are complemented by articulate and aggressive drumming both performed by Parker Griggs.”

4. Frustrating Sound (Radio Moscow, 2007)

“You can hear the influences of Hendrix, Cream, Peter Green, plus a dash of MC5. However, this album is not at all a classic rock ripoff. If this group is given a chance, I think they will be very successful. They have a unique and exciting sound.”

3. Broke Down (Brain Cycles, 2009)

“Radio Moscow is a heavy-jam powerhouse, with many of the tracks clocking in at 4- and 5-minutes, and the studio-effect heavy “No Good Woman” stretching to over eight, including a (flashback alert!) minute-thirty drum solo. Griggs serves as the band’s vocalist, singing through processing that sounds like a Mellotron, but the lyrics mostly serve to keep the guitar solos from running over one another.”

2. So Alone (Magical Dirt, 2014)

“The opener, ” So Alone” blasts out of the blocks with excellent riffs and effects reminiscent of early Hendrix. This tune sets the pace and tone of heaviness throughout.”

1. 250 Miles (Brain Cycles, 2009)

“Great Retro styled acid/heavy-blues rock. This is a very fine set of new-ish original music that falls squarely into the 1973 acid rock style. Plenty of big bluesy guitar riffs, inspired playing and thc infused groove.”
