Sunraker embrace emotional collapse on new single ‘Mad’
Copenhagen alt-rock outfit Sunraker dive headfirst into obsession, paralysis and emotional decay on their intense new single ‘Mad’, released ahead of the band’s forthcoming self-titled EP.
Following the momentum of debut release ‘Sunraker’, the quartet return with a darker and more immersive track, built around swirling shoegaze textures, towering guitar work and a restless rhythmic pulse. At the centre is vocalist Sophus Alf, whose controlled, almost hypnotic delivery guides the song through themes of attraction, dependency and psychological collapse.
‘Mad’ explores the moment when fascination mutates into something destructive; when a relationship stops evolving and begins tightening around you instead. What starts as seduction slowly transforms into alienation, with the track capturing the suffocating feeling of being emotionally trapped without escape.
There are shades of post-punk melancholy and 90s alternative rock throughout, but Sunraker balance atmosphere with force, creating something cinematic without losing its raw physicality.
