Superfriends rail against absentee landlords on ‘King Of The Moths’

UK indie-rock band Superfriends channel the frustrations of crumbling homes and modern life into ‘King Of The Moths’, the title track from their new debut album.

Built around anger towards absentee landlords, the single captures the experience of watching problems accumulate while the people responsible remain conspicuously absent. At the same time, the band turn that frustration into something broader, using the fictional King Of The Moths as a personification of disorder, neglect and the persistent mental noise of everyday life.

Superfriends began with childhood friends Harry Atkinson and Jake Hughes, who started making music after spending their formative years attending DIY gigs together. Following several changes to the group, Matt Johnson and Mark Riley completed the current line-up.

Since then, the band have released a run of singles and EPs, while their music has also received exposure through a Netflix feature.
