Tornado Lobster Killer bite back at the underground music grind on ‘Pay To Play’

Milan punk trio Tornado Lobster Killer come out swinging on ‘Pay To Play’, a blistering opening statement from their album Lobsteria.

Formed by Croma, Matteo and Nanà in 2018, the band pour the frustrations of underground music into a sharp blast of melodic hardcore. ‘Pay To Play’ takes aim at an independent live circuit where, from the band’s perspective, emerging artists can find themselves spending money simply for the opportunity to perform.

Financial instability, relentless self-promotion, industry expectations and the everyday indignities of trying to keep a band moving all feed into the track. Rather than delivering a straight-faced rant, however, Tornado Lobster Killer sharpen their frustration with plenty of bitter humour and sarcasm.

Fast, furious and wonderfully cynical, ‘Pay To Play’ turns the struggle of being an underground band into a reason to make even more noise.
