Austrian alternative trio zeronic dive headfirst into the memories that refuse to disappear on stirring new single ‘The Aftermath (Longing For Her Skin)’.

The final preview of forthcoming album Modernism, the track pairs shimmering guitars with a huge, immediate chorus, drawing on the atmospheric 80s post-punk of The Cure, Talking Heads and David Bowie while retaining zeronic’s own euphoric edge.

At its heart is the strange persistence of a relationship after it has ended. Someone may have disappeared from everyday life, yet a film, poem or song can suddenly bring everything flooding back. Rather than fighting that lingering attachment, ‘The Aftermath’ allows itself to become consumed by it.

It’s another compelling taste of Modernism, an album examining connection, isolation, belonging and disillusionment through ten tracks shaped from around 25 initial ideas.

Having first emerged from Austria’s alternative scene in the 1990s, zeronic are now reconnecting with the urgency of their beginnings without simply recreating them.
