Velocity Made Good turn frustration into fuel on new single ‘Coming Up Threes’
Groningen electronic rock duo Velocity Made Good return with ‘Coming Up Threes’, a relentless new single that pushes their evolving sound into heavier, more visceral territory ahead of their forthcoming EP Big Breakers.
Driven by pounding four-on-the-floor rhythms, distorted analogue synths and urgent vocals, the track captures the feeling of fighting to be heard while constantly being overlooked. Drawing on an old maritime superstition as a central metaphor, ‘Coming Up Threes’ explores quiet resentment, resilience and the determination to keep resurfacing despite the odds.
The single follows lead release ‘Big Breakers’ and further showcases the duo’s transformation into a fully realised rock band. Produced by Josh Baxter (PVA), the upcoming EP was recorded inside a derelict school in Groningen, where blaring amplifiers and resonant rooms became an essential part of the recording process, giving the songs a raw physicality that complements their electronic foundations.
Formed after the collapse of a previous band and inspired by the landscapes and coastlines of their Frisian home, Velocity Made Good have steadily developed a sound that fuses classic rock energy with electronic experimentation. ‘Coming Up Threes’ is another bold step forward, offering a powerful preview of Big Breakers and confirming the duo’s ambition to redefine where rock and electronic music meet.
